Auckgeddon Lodgings

I'm booking for 4 nights, the Friday I get there, Saturday and Sunday obviously and also Monday because no planes go back to Dunedin at a decent time and price after geddon, there is also the matter of where to hold my luggage if I check out on Monday morning, so I'm staying an extra night and taking an early flight out on Tuesday.

My mate Andrew might lend me his couch, as he is going to Auck'Geddon as well, but this is looking to be more fruitful...lol

I'm thinking of touring around Auckland after the Geddon.
for me I will be staying saterday, sunday, monday and tuesday nights.
Well... Hopefully one day is going to be enough XP

This sounds really fun, but unfortunately I don't know what we're doing yet, the three of us are thinking of just getting a hotel for the nights we're in Auckland, it wouldn't be too much more (we hope) and it'd be nice... hotel...

Basically once I hit 12 people, I inquire about booking a whole dorm for a a couple of days, some I get confirmation on that I'll basically set a fixed date one when I need confirmation from everyone.

Also sidenote: Looking at the website they seemed to recon $20 per person on the 8 bed mixed ones, are they charging a bit extra to keep it set aside for the group only? (not a dig, just curious) Also as weird as it sounds can you confirm they do actually give you a towel to use? They mention 'towel hire' on one of their pages. Most of the places I've stayed at (admittedly not dorms) gave you a towel to use as part of it.

If you're busy don't worry too much about it, I can give them a ring at some point to confirm that bit. Thx.

i'm up on thursday night, and i'll be in auckland until the following sunday if any cosplayers are sticking around in auck for a bit longer and want to have a photoshoot or something?
this all sounds awesome though. the dorm rooms at chchgeddon were heaps of fun last time, so yeah. 8DD
i'll probably be at the backpackers thurs / fri / sat / sun / mon. anyone else going to be staying there thurs?

If I do come, staying Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon? will probably be best. If I leave Monday night then I'm not missing any school xD.

And great thing about this so far is that I know everyone staying there, so mum'll likely say yes (let's ignor the age difference xD. I'm seventeen, really!! *coughcough*).

Helps to not get ID'd when buying stuff (drinks, movie tickets, etc), but um, yeah, haven't looked younger since I was like 14. sad

But anyways, yay, more people for the dorm. :)

IcyRose: yeah, I just did a quick search on the main site for 3 nights from 24-Oct at Auck Central and it came up. Technically it says 'From', but yeah, just seems weird, plus they don't actually list the 12 bed on there, just up to 8, so *shrug*

Edit: Clicking through the booking/reservation link for 8 bed, 8 guests, it seems to come up with the $20/night pricing, so if we can get up to 12 it might be worth pushing for the $20 pricing to book the entire 12 beds out. :) Well depending on how many are staying every night that is I guess.

Ah, my mistake, I was looking at Auckland instead of Auckland Central Backpackers which a different facility, so we can only have up to 8 per dorm it seems at $20 per night which is nice and cheap and since I have more than 8 people it also means I can call them up pretty much now and ask.... only I'm at work atm so I can't. But will get to it once I get home.

Ah, that makes sense, yeah I was wondering if they had 12 bed ones they kept unlisted for some reason.

Do you have a list of what nights people are staying yet? Cause that's the only other thing that might affect the booking. If there's only 6 or so staying Fri, Sat, Sun, and then another couple that want to stay on Thurs and Monday night aswell it could get interesting. Unless they turn out to be happy enough to have a part empty dorm for a night to keep it as just people we know.

If you want I can make a preliminary call and ask them some questions? plus ask about the towels (that one still seems weird to me).
