| Made most of my Len kagamine bodice which is good~ Have to decide wether it will have a corset back, or a zip, I also need to sew on the bias or ribbon [Whatever I decide on] and then sew on some trimming. about to go pin crazy and pin some pieces together :3 |

Re: General Progress By Cookie Monster. 28/06/10, 05:29 pm |
| Made a cardboard template for my "sword". I'm at a dilemmia whether to make it push-tang (as current designed) [The end of the sword is pushed into the handle] or encapsulated tang [The handle is moulded around the end of the sword].
Problem is it's huge (the template is about 6ft 2") and weight will be an issue. Also being a perfectionist I would prefer to keep it accurate and possible, which means making the hilt and handle look like 2 seperate pieces.

Re: General Progress By firecat70. 01/07/10, 06:26 pm |
| Progress on my Sakura artbook dress for the Ball:
- Spoiler:
I fixed the right side of the dress after looking at the photo and realising it was wonky. I also realised I need to put in something (bias tape maybe? idk ;__;) on the inside so you can't see the ick edges of the lace. Oh the lace! It's meant to be all black. The only stuff I could find that was the right shape was white so I tried to dye it black. But it turned out grey and white. But it was pretty and I cbf so I decided to roll with it. I decided I need to make a petticoat for the dress (I have been trying to figure it out for ages and had a eureka moment today. I also need straps to take weight off the top and make it less wrinkly. And the arrow things. Then actually sew the top and skirt together (its currently roughly hand sewed it together so I could see how it looked) I also cut out the dragon and crown out of craftfoam but forgot to take pictures
In addition to the lace, I also tried to dye some tartan and a wig purple for Hit-Girl. The tartan turned out hot pink. The wig turned out light purple (I PUT THE WHOLE BOTTLE OF FW DYE IN TOOO FFFFUUU) Things I have learnt this week: I am horrible at dying things. |

Re: General Progress By Huntress. 02/07/10, 03:51 am |
| @Karianna> Liking the shoes. They should work out well.
@Firecat70> What kind of fabric are you dying and what are you using to dye it? That could be a lot of your problem. With synthetics I often cheat and you fabric paint slightly diluted in a spray bottle. Maybe try that? Check out the help topics though... you may find out what you need there. |

Re: General Progress By firecat70. 02/07/10, 06:43 am |
| I was using Dylon for both. The tartan stuff was cotton... so it should have worked. I think it was too diluted so I am going to try again. The lace was supposdily a cotton/polyester blend which the packet said was all good (I realised after the material was cotton and the trimmings were polyester. Total derp moment.) I like that idea! I think I will try it if it doesn't work this time Thank you! |
