It started fine. Perfect colour lycra for cape, good pattern, etc. But then i was 3m too short of cape fabric. Went back, got more. Wrong colour >_> Used anyway. Had patterns cut, going fine, sewed pieces together, then BAM. 2381635 ladders in my face. HNNG >_> Lycra is mean. Whats worse is all my cosplays this year have leotards, meaning lycra. NYAH beware for tantrums. Also bought what i thought would be a good Raven wig. Too short >_> I planned to spend only $70, but now i have to start from scratch again, so there goes another $70 or so XD

Got all fabric required for Crimson Viper, and got the base fabric to start my Kanako Yasaka for DO :) Finally! Once the current commissions are out of the way, I am all over that suckah.

@Number-IX> Try neatening the edges with a zigzag stitch if you don't have an overlocker. It's the seams that pull across (top of the lengthwise grain) that you need to neaten as they're the tricksey ones that cause the runs in the fabric. Side seams are all good.

I did more 'research' yesterday afternoon (read that as I watch more of the musicals with Mandie). So now I fully understand what's needed to make my cosplay for next year. Mandie noted that I seem to go more into the research side of things for cosplay than anyone she knows... is this a good or bad thing?

The few trickey things will be finding the trims (or something similar enough not to bug me) and having to possibly get a wig commissioned as the ones I see on ebay are not enough like one I want...

I'm discovering that I maybe too much of a details freak and perfectionist to get any cosplay done right enough to make me happy with it... something I need to probably deal with sometime.

@Sakura/Karianna: I think I am in the same boat in terms of research/perfectionism. I think it is a good thing. Helps keep you motivated. Reminds me of an old saying: "Reach for the stars and even if you don't get there maybe you'll land on the moon."

Completed the cardboard templates for my plate-mail greaves.... after 3 remakes.
This time around I'm going to try something lighter, so I'm not wearing an extra person.

I'm not a math wizard, so I can't sit down and work out extact angles, etc, but I'm pretty happy that the greaves for both legs are symmetrical and line up evenly.

Now to practice my bandsaw skills to complete the rest of the armour.

Got a LOT of work done on a CC commission today, and have now stalled until I figure out what the hell is wrong with my overlocker. I just spent way too long fighting with it, and then moved onto fighting with the zipper from hell for my Margie dress :3

Printed and tweaked a pattern for my Flonne dress - then I discovered that I had enough fabric left over from my green kimono to do a proper fabric mock-up, yay! I also discovered a whole bunch of red Cotton that I didn't even know I had which will be perfect for the dress itself. nodnod Will cut the fabric out when I get home from work, maybe! Very Happy
