Rule Suggestion - limitation of style use

Please vote....

Should there be a rule about overuse of styles

1) Yes, please make a rule preventing the overuse and abuse of styles
We vote for a rule to prevent people from constantly using styles to disrupt other people\\\'s reading flow on the fourms.
Specifically; you are not allowed to overuse text, alinement, colour, bold/italic/strike/underline size or font style effects, in every post, as a general rule and when there are complaints from other users of the forum.

Using them sigularly or in combination on a non-regular basis is however acceptable

2) No, we support freedom of choice and uniqueness
even at the expense of readibility

Err- Fudge.

It's hard to vote because can understand the people with bad eyesight it might be more difficult to read things with smaller texts which can make things frustrating to read..

But then again also on the side of supporting being different and having the freedom of using whatever style/ font that pleases us the most..

Going to vote for Freedom. Because everybody has different writing styles no matter what..
and sometimes the change in font style can show off a person's character so much easily...

I voted No simply because I don't believe its right to force people to conform to something just to make other people happy...

Doesn't make sense to me..
I mean year I can see how the smaller font combined with text alignment can be annoying..
But thats no reason to make a rule forbidding styling ones post all together...

I mean I'd rather propose that there should be a rule on using font sizes lower than the default..

I think it would be a much more fair compromize seeing as how the majority of the complaints about this seemed to stem from the small font size..
At least thats what i've observed...

Just my opinions on this topic...

I'm voting for freedom.
It is annoying, yes, but seriously people, cutting off others freedom of expression? Not cool.

I tend to just ignore coloured posts anyway. Old habit from Neopets.

I voted yes because I think it's incredibly selfish for an individual to expect every other one of our 500+ forum members to bend over backwards to read their text.

From a mod's POV - we wouldn't mod EVERYTHING - just things that are too hard to read. You can still personalise posts - I bear no issue with this - but your post should still be readable.

If the posts are readable (eg not a tiny font or blinding colour) then it should be fine

Voted for the rule some posts these days are a just a pain in the ass especially with centered italic loopy font

and yet size 11 isn't actually available on most forums as a clickable option, whereas 9 is generally accepted as the small text size.
if 11 is swapped for 9 i will use it.
but i still think this is ridiculous.
this is a forum - people are going to want to use different fonts and post styles.
it happens. if the community grows bigger, you'll see much worse than my breach of the norm.

also, i can read both of those sizes with ease.
maybe my screen is just awesome or something?

and since the voting is separated by only 15% i'd say it doesn't bother as many people as it was implied to.

I don't even see why people are complaining. 1)It's not a big issue and 2)unless you're not wearing glasses or you need glasses small text font is EASY to read.

but see, now we have an issue with the definiton of "difficult to read".

i've already said that i find centred text easier to read than left aligned.
and i can read size 9 with ease, as can 90% of the users on every forum i've ever been in.
i have never had anyone complain about it before - size 9 is even the default text size in some places.

i would define pale coloured tezt (i.e: grey, yellow, white etc.) as difficult to read.
and i find TXT SPK difficult to read (would be happy to support a ban on deliberate bad spelling/grammar).
but that's about it.

hence why this seems silly to me.

I can read text smaller than that in fact i find size 7 font easy to read :S

One of the points raised is that people with lesser vision (Which is common amongst cosplayers) have difficulty reading anything less than Size 12.
Syne, I believe, actually has the page zoomed, just to read size 12.

I believe there should be a rule banning anything LESS than size 12, other than for emphasis.
See, usually this is where people hide devious statements 8D

I have literally perfect 20/20 vision (Well, faintly colorblind in my right eye but FFF).
On bad days, I find it a tad difficult to read size 7-9 font.

Centred text has been scientifically proven to be harder to read than left aligned or justified.
Especially so in a default left forum as this, where ones eyes first track down the left of a centred post, then has to look to the center, then back to the left for the next post.

Thats just my opinion though~

I have no problem with centred text, but size 9 is way too small. Maybe you just have a tiny screen? My screen resolution isn't even that big (1440x900), but size 9 appears at about 3mm high.

Books are designed to be easily legible, and use size 12 text for that reason. I think that it's ridiculous that you expect so many people to read 3mm text. Size 11 is only two sizes large, and takes it up to about 5mm - that's MUCH more easily legible.

I'd like to add to FRED's point - I have ridiculously bad vision, and wear glasses to compensate, but STILL struggle to read your text.

i wear glasses to correct my atrocious eyesight but i can still read misseevee's writing easily :/
