AnimeSoc at UC is back again for 2010.

Meetings every Tuesday in the International Room, second floor, UCSA building. 6:45-9:45pm unless otherwise stated during term time.

I'll join! Finally a club that I can participate in...
I want to start Z-Soc? ZomSoc? A zombie club, but then I have the problem, what does one do in a zombie club? Watch zombie movies? Eat one anothers flesh? I think I should wait until next year, so I can organise my brain (hah! That will happen.... -___-)

I'm tempted to call my boy who's studying there and force him to join. 8D But he's doing 11 papers this year so he won't have time.

...that and the fact that the only anime he is actually interested in is Death Note and the Dragon Ball saga, both of which he has already finished.

Update!

I should have done this earlier.....

As far as to my knowledge the clubs person hasn't contacted my friend (the deadline for new clubs was the day before ChchGeddon). But I shall be chatting to my friend (hopefully on Monday) to see what's happening.

okay another update

apparently the clubs person never got back to my friend so he's gonna try again. we may have it ready for clubs day during re-orientation if we're lucky

on a side note: @ Nazgul I'm considering it for next year

Just a clarification for rocky and me and others. I understand that 50% of people who turn up to meetings must be uni members. That means that non students can attend meetings. Just that if everybody in CHCH decides to turns up then the UCSA will object.

Thus I turn up at UCMRS meetings without even being a member. In fact past students still turn up there to teach. Just like many other clubs who rely on outside coaches, etc.

If everybody wanted a club then a non-uni club may be appropriate. Of course the advantage of a uni club is use of the UCSA facilities.

that's correct. but to get the ball rolling we need 20 current student members.

i'm not in charge of it, so i only know part of what's going on

so far there's about 10-15 definites and others who are interested (according to my friend who put the idea onto the Canterbury halls of residence network).

but the clubs officer still hasn't contracted my friend, despite repeated attempts by said friend. we're getting annoyed

I know theres already a Japanese society that has decent numbers( not a member yet but Ive been meaning to sign up). Maybe it could be a branch of that... ?

and i update once again. Clubs officer finally got back to my friend. Apparently they didn't know what anime was......

anywho it looks like as long as we have some keen uni students we'll have the go ahead. a temporary message board has been set up. i'll put the link up at a later time. i'm having problems accessing the email account it was sent to.

What does it matter if they didn't know what it was? They could have asked. Or just let you form a club anyway. I'm sure that if it turned out to be a weird death cult they could just have closed us down/blamed it on KAOS.

we are getting a stall. i go to get one tomorrow, hopefully. :)

i'll be at the stall for most of the day so come up and say hello, we'll be screening a variety of anime throughout the day.

at the moment there is no membership fee but that may change after the AGM.
