ChCh People going to WellyGeddon

I have been thinking about if I go to WellyGeddon. I mean it is basically a repeat of ChChGeddon.
But I have been asked to go. And there are some people I want to catch up with. And it maybe nice to meet the Welly people.

So in view of keeping it as cheap as possible I was pricing stuff.

Flights are about $160-200 per person.
Or ferry about $100-130 PP. Plus about $70 petrol.
So if people wanted to share a ride up it would be cheaper than flying.

Then there is accommodation.

Recommend going with a friend or friend(s) plural, think the trip could be more exciting if you bring some friends along with you, like a adventure or a travel and also if anything happens to you while your in Wellington you have some kind of support. Recommend really going for it, if you are really keen to go and I'm sure that the Wellington cosplaying group will be glad to see you there..

The flight takes about 2hours, max.

To drive to picton and get the ferry, you're looking about 4hours driving time and then another 2hours on the ferry, for a total of 6 hours.

So:

Ferry: 12hrs return
Plane: 4hrs return
difference: 8hrs

8 x $12.25 (minimum wage) = $80 (net)

which works out to be a revised costing of:

$160-$200 flight (though personally my lights usually cost less then $160 return)
$180-$210 ferry

Of course if your time is worthless and you do convince 3 other people that their time is worthless and to split gas money with you, it may, possibly work out to only cost $120 each.

For the record, my flights and Jen's flights return to Wellington this year, are costing us $104each, and were booked in January.

My flights were $140ish return booked just last week, though I could have gotten away with $118 had I chosen to fly in earlier in the week (Wendesday).

I left it later than I probably should have 'cause I was hoping something good would come up on grabaseat. 8D;;; ~~Which it did, AFTER I had booked my flights... Always the way!~~

Yeah I have found flights for $140, so thats how I will go.

And Will Easter is a holiday so there is no pay. Or more precisely you actually get paid to not work.

I'm not talking just about getting paid, I'm talking about what your time is worth.

Oh, and there was another important reason, but not this year apparently.

And yeah my time is worth a lot more than $12. More like $30. Not that I get paid that, but ...

Then again it is my time to enjoy any way I want. Sometimes you just have to take a holiday. And never rush a holiday. You have limited time and limited money, you have to juggle the two.
