hehe, yeah, I must say it was amusing when I came to Wellington. On a good windy day you walk down the street and every dozen or so rubbish bins you'll see a demolished umbrella sticking out. Razz

That and snow D: My best friend told me it was snowing back in England, I'm so jealous!

Anyways! One important thing to mention is not to forget to buy vitamins, epecially if you're from a different country. NZ's soil lacks a lot of nutrients, so the plants they harvest here don't give us every thing that we need, and so you tend to feel tired and gloomy because of it after a while.
But, there are lots of vitamins and stuff to choose from over here, and they have a few really great natural stores full of supliments and stuff like that too, just a heads up D:

Anndd Borders is love. I got my Tsubasa from there x3
But they tend to run out pretty quick and only stock up to certain volumes, but you can order and they'll get them in for you. I went totally mad in the US, because they had a Borders and Barnes and Noble, and they had sooo much manga, and they were having this huge sale; there was money off AND it was buy 1 get 1 free. I think I bought 8 more books to bring home with me xD

And yep, Americas food portions are gigantic! When I was there I ordered a small meal, and it came with a giant plate of salad and 4 burgers D: seriously xD
And the woman at the hotel we were staying at said I ate like a tiny bird, because I only wanted toast for breakfat. Kukuku.

Wow. I didn't know that! No wonder I'm never 100% unless I have vitamins lol.

I love that.

The first time I had my own umbrealla, Gyusle decided to use it, and as we were going down the steet, the wind destoryed it. It was so hilarious my sides died from laughter.

Ha ... I don't use vitamins. I probably should actually xD.

lol, i can pretty much imagine the look on Gyusles face as she proceeds to demolish your first umbrella. Razz

I didn't actually know about the vitamins thing either. I thought in general NZ produce was pretty good, but I wouldn't be overly surprised if some trace elements are deficient in various areas of the country, between the volcanic areas and the flood plains it's hardly surprising. But yeah, I normally have vitamins aswell. I usually take them when I go to bed and I know I certainly feel better in the morning if I've had them that I normally would, but historically put it down to general lack of balanced diet.

I usually have Mens Exec B Stress formula (lots of vitamin B, plus everything else). Vitamin C 1000mg (with Echinachea), and an Iron Supplement. Usually have them for a few days in a row every couple of weeks when I remember to. The actual quantities of vitamins are probably way more than I need, but I figure it can't hurt me and my body will just process whatever it needs anyway.

Hm, well I think I'll be fine vitamin wise. My immune system is fairly good. I'm not big on taking medicine of any kind even when I'm deathly ill. I don't drink milk nor do I eat very many dairy products. I can't stand most vegetables. I'm just down right unhealthy intake wise but my body has never been broken or in really bad shape. I might have to start taking something though since it will be a new place, but we'll have to see.

I don't drink milk. It's gross. I don't eat cheese, that's gross too. Yogurt is also gross.

Uhmn ... Haha. Maybe I should start taking calcium then >_<

Fruit are a pain to eat (juice goes everywhere ....), and most vegitables never get cooked for some reason, but we can't keep them now anyway. (Broken fridge ... For almost a month xD).

Ah. Probably Miramar. Razz Over the other side not far from the Airport.

Edit: PS: are you still interested in coming to the ball?
There's a scattering of posts about it through here:
http://forum.cosplay.co.nz/wcp-wellington-cosplay-ball-f15/

There's also going to be another organiser planning meeting this afternoon with ticket sales available aswell, plus tomorrow 10am->midday:
Info here:
http://community.livejournal.com/cosplaypicnicnz/

The tickets are $25. Could be a good chance to meet some of the Wgtn & Palmy peoples that are going. :) hehe.
Edit: Since you're new to NZ I probably shouldn't abbreviate so much - Wgtn - short for Wellington. Palmy - short for Palmerston North.

That information helps a lot thanks ^^

I have a question for anyone in the area though, all my plug-ins are american so they don't work on the outlets here. Is there anywhere I can find a power cord for american/new zealand convertions around here? I'm not sure if my aunt has any. Anyway, if I can't find one, my laptop and camera and such are going to be completely uselss which would suck ^-^''

Yup, you'll need to get a country adapter.

Stating the obvious first, but MAKE SURE THEY CAN TAKE 240 VOLTS INPUT!. If they're only 100-110 rated they'll blow up and quite likely damage the device if it's attached. If they're rated for 100->250volts (or 110 -> 240, etc), then you only need a country adapter.

This ones a pretty common one, but there's others aswell. (click into mains plug travel adapters on right hand side for category)
http://www.dse.co.nz/dse.shop/en/product/M7308

Di ck Smiths is one of the more common electronics type retailers in NZ. They also have a branch in Airport Park (Rongotai) which isn't too far from where you are. There's also Harvey Norman, Bond & Bond, Noel Leeming, etc.etc. Virtually any of them should have country adapters.

The other option (which i usually favour) but only applies if you're going to be in NZ for an extended length of time, is to get new AC cords. Most stuff in particular laptops use 2pin figure 8, or 3pin clover leaf AC Cords.
2pin figure 8 style - http://www.dse.co.nz/dse.shop/en/product/W1360
3pin clover leaf style - http://www.dse.co.nz/dse.shop/en/product/W1350

You can get them cheaper aswell online. TradeMe is the dominant online auction site in NZ. Just search 'laptop power cord' and you'll get basically the same cords in the first page of results. Razz

Yeah, Richard Smiths is like Radio Shack more or less. You'll find what you are lookin' for there. When I got back from my 3 year stay in the states, I bought all new power cables for all my junk that accepts 240V input, and a couple of new power bricks for the things that didn't. It wasn't too expensive. Its actually a much better option that getting adaptors, since most plug adapters are quite bulky, and you can't put two of them side by side etc.

Was just like '... It rained? o_0'

Thank you guys SO much for your help. I'll see if my aunt has anything and if not I'll be buying those no doubt.

It rained a little bit this morning too I notice.

I love it here so far! It's SO beautiful, but so different! It's amazing X3

EDIT: Alright, my aunt had an extra adaptor like I figured she would. Now I'm having no troubles at all. ^^
