Picnic? To save some monies ;)

Hey all, like most of you I am not exactly swimming in pools of cash and I know the food on site can be a costly. I was wondering if there was any interest in having a picnic one or more days? It could be on site or across the road at Cornwall Park.

It depends on the schedule of course but it could also be a nice chance to have a good old natter and catchup and talk making stuff ;) We can make it bring your own or bring a plate (always suggest if we do that that you bring something you will eat yourself- as a vegetarian I tend to have to bring stuff for myself anyway ;) )

Obviously I and a few others will be busy all day Monday but it might also be a nice destress meet after the judging :)

I'm free before 12pm on Sun, and after the judging on Mon. Also maybe Sat between around 11:30am to 1:30pm ish?

Likewise, love the idea. Somewhere with the trees and shade could be nice though. Assuming we have a sunny day.

Not tooo far from the main showgrounds would be good too.

Google Maps photo attached. The fountain up top left is quite nice from driving past it, otherwise there are a few nearby areas.

The fountain _is_ nice, and there's plenty of shade AND sun :3 It's about a 5ish minute walk (or less, maybe?) from the 'geddon front gates, and there's a BK just across the road from it, as well.

Does anyone know if there's a back gate out of the showgrounds onto the road? I remember driving along it looking for a park once and not seeing one, but I may have missed it.

I dont recall there being a back gate (I parked down that end one day).
If there was it was either well concealed of closed off for the event.

I can't make anything on Sunday afternoon, and I'd prefer for it not to be on Monday since if we're outside, we'll probably end up sitting on grass or something I guess and I'd rather not get my outfits dirty. 8D;; Especially Caterina.

I'm thinking Mon might just be easier for everyone to gather in one place and head out, since we're all in the judging room/close to the judging room.

I'll try bring something vegetarian as well! Can we put out dish/container things in the judging room on the day?

@Rolly-- But you also have to consider the fact that on Monday, half of us are trounced up in delicate outfits we can barely move in, or have massive props or just generally don't want to mess up our costumes by traipsing around too much? Timewise, Monday is the best, as you say, but we're cosplayers-- what we're wearing provides half of the difficulty in doing stuff at 'Geddon.

(thinking about it, I am actually personally really averse to Monday because I'll be wearing a lot of white, a lot of skirts, and a wig that I don't want to have on out in the wind: but that's just me)

Also, My dress can easily be trodden on and ripped as it is, trust me on that because I have done that already and had to fix it. C:

Given that Michaela will probably be spending most of Monday judging the competition, I doubt that Monday would happen anyway. Razz

I vote Saturday. xD No wig, comfortable costume, and Sunday is all black clothing, Monday is competition.

I'll just go against the trend here and say my comp cosplay is the only one I wouldn't mind sitting on the ground in. XD
But you know guys....we don't have to roll around in the dirt to have a picnic. Put blankets on the ground? Sit on public seating instead of the ground? Having it on Monday wouldn't be the end of the world. I can only see it as a problem if your outfit is actually difficult to move in, or if you're like me last year wearing Ultimecia not even being able to sit down. So yeah I'm keen for any day, any time except for like the kamehameha comp and whenever Dan Green is doing something. Very Happy
