Sewing Meeting 9th July

Centennial Hall

The Orbiter bus passes it on it's route.

It's alright if you turn up a a little before 7pm as I will be setting up.

Cost is to cover the hire of the hall, heating, and rubbish bags.

If you want to bring your sewing machine there is a power point, it might be a good idea to bring an extension cord. There are tons of tables, so you can work on any part of a costume that you may be working on. There is tons of room. Also, a zip with hot water, a stove, and a fridge.

One thing, you are responsible for your own property so if you do bring a sewing machine or any other piece of expensive equipment please do not let anyone use it unsupervised. I don't want any accidents.

I wondering how many people are interested in meeting up for a cosplay sewing night, where we could do some crafty type stuff, maybe a tutorial?

it is looking like costing $30 - $40 for a Tuesdays, or Thursday night from 6ish to 9ish. To rent a hall. So would cost $2/$3 for each person to pay for the hall.

I would certainly be interested in attending some form of Sewing Night. It would bring back fond memories of the Week Before Chchgeddon, in which every night was a Sewing Night. And every day was a Sewing Day. Ahhh, good times...

I live out in Rolleston, I don't know how many people are able to get out this far especially since I am not near any bus route. otherwise I would be happy to hold one at my place.
So why I listed it here was hoping someone might have a suggestion where it could be held. We shouldn't need to rent a hall or anything complicated.

yea that sounds great! I'd love to come! I have no idea where Rolleston is, but it sounds far... very nice of you to offer your own place! I can't really imagine anyone else offering to have a bunch of cosplayers sewing at their house =[ hm.. maybe we can all go to some park or something and sit under a tree and sew our troubles away XD

Rolleston, is a township 18km out of Hornby, on the Main South Rd, heading towards Ashburton. For people that don't know where rolleston is.

A park is a good idea but, inside so that our costumes-in-the-making won't be damaged would maybe work better.

The other choice is finding some scout hall or something which hires out cheaply to community groups.

Preferably an evening for a few hours during the week.
So 7pm - 9pm or 6.30pm - 9pm during the week. Not monday or Friday.

Okay. I am now renting a hall. It is looking like costing $30 - $40 a night, Thurs - Tues night from 6.30 - 9.30pm. located in Halswell, Riccarton, or Hoon Hay.
This is tentative, if you are interested could you please pm me so I can get numbers.

Once I have at least 8 people confirmed, I can go about booking a hall.
It will be on a Tues, Wed, or Thurs night and cost $2, $3 depending on how many people confirm.
There are several places I can book so if I can get 8 yes I will go and book and post when, where and how much.
6 people so far have said they would like to. Just a couple more.

Okay so that is 8 from just the forums, i will have to check out the halls But the choice is between a hall in Spreydon, Hoon Hay, Halswell, and Riccarton.

Centennial Hall in Spreydon at $30 a night avaliable tuesdays and weds.
Riccarton $12hr Tues Thurs
Hoon Hay $40 Thurs Wed
Halswell $30
