I wanted to clear one thing. This isn't going to be a lesson, or class straight away. I just don't people to be dissapointed if they think it will be like a school sewing class.
But a place to work on our costumes, or craft projects to have a place to work together, and help each other.
That doesn't mean I am trying to turn people away it's just as our first meet up we arn't that organised to have classes, but any one can come to watch and talk. Bring snacks and listen to music if they want.

ah, no, sorry.
I know how to use a sewing machine (not an overlocker though, but I've survived this far without it)
I was just poking fun at my tendency to stuff up our sewing machine regularly with my not-as-awesome-as-mandie_chan's-sewing skills.

I'm happy to help out with some basic sewing instruction for those who need it, but it will depend on how busy I am at the time. I'd love to be able to prevent people from making all the same sewing mistakes that I have made. Yeah, there have been quite a few. *horrible memories*
And I would encourage any sewing newbies to start with something simple, well researched and made of inexpensive fabric. And I'm not taking any responsibility for sewing-related injuries.

I don't actually have a sewing machine either, I just go over to my friends place and use her machine when I need to sew (and to craft and watch tv lol) I have ninja'd ("borrowed") their overlocker and it is awesome! --- I'm actually on the phone to my dear mother right now who is telling me all about which brand of sewing machine I *must* buy when I do get my own Rolling Eyes

Everyone has a favourite brand of machine and tales of horror about the types they don't like. I would say go for name brand like, Brother, Singer, Janome cause you can get the serive and the parts for them which you won't for a no-name copy.
One thing I prefer is metal parts and gears as these tend to last longer than the machines with plastic gears.

I hope I didn't sound bad before. I just didn't want people turning up thinking it was going to be like a sewing class from school or something and be dissapointed.

Hm yes, there are definitely advantages to getting a popular and well-known brand of sewing machine when it comes to repairs et cetera. My sewing machine is a Husqvarna (I believe they specialise in chainsaws?) and the only place to get it repaired is on the other side of town. But I haven't had many problems anyway, so it might not really matter.
But I'd stay away from the fancy digital sewing machines if possible, the older/cheaper ones with knobs and switches are often more reliable and cheaper to get repaired.

simple is better I agree with that. The less parts the less chance to go wrong. Besides that you never need the fancy stitches that you get on the more expensive machines. Well not usually. You can probably get by with straight stitch, zig zag and a stretch stitch.

Cosplay Sewing Night
9th July 7pm - 9pm
Cost: $3
Centennial Hall
Cnr Sparks Rd, and Lyttelton Road. Spreydon
My contact ph: 0212958671
It's alright if you turn up a a little before 7pm as I will be setting up.

Cost is to cover the hire of the hall, heating, and rubbish bags.

If you want to bring your sewing machine there is a power point, it might be a good idea to bring an extension cord. There are tons of tables, so you can work on any part of a costume that you may be working on. There is tons of room. Also, a zip with hot water, a stove, and a fridge.

One thing, you are responsible for your own property so if you do bring a sewing machine or any other piece of expensive equipment please do not let anyone use it unsupervised. I don't want any accidents.

I will be needing a hand to set up tables. If anyone wants a lift and lives between Hornby, and Spraydon I could pick some people up. This would be before 6.30 though.
Wises map, of Lyttelon rd, if you scroll down the road it comes to a roundabout with Sparks Rd and Frankleigh branching off.
Centennial Hall faces the roundabout and is on the Sparks rd corner.

Oh yay!
Something I can come to! AT LAST X3
At least I hope I can... it is the day I hand in my history internal and it's UC opne day. A very busy day I predict... I will have to inject sugar into my blood stream -nods thoughtfully- If I am overly hyper/look like death on the day, you will know why ^__^

I can finally start on the Yuki from Haruhi blahblahlongnameinsertedhere uniform thing! A project I have been planning for over 2 months now. I am super excited. I can bring along my old dinosaur of a machine (it's older than me XD) it's lovely.

What area do you (anyone bringing heavy things really) live in? I may be able to give someone(s) a lift with their heavy things if they're en route from my place.

Edit* oh and I am currently borrowing a friends overlocker which I can bring, its pretty old but works like a charm.

St Albans ftw~!

I think I forgot to mention, but I'll be coming to this.

I won't be bringing any sewing machines, but if anyone wants fabric glue, just ask.

I'm gonna be working on my wing for Angeal.
