| Jess: yeah, yay for druggies... sigh. Even night time Panadol will get you a series of questions. It is a lot trickier but water does work for wigs etc as well. But really is best for subtle tone on tone :)
Woot! I now have a mannequin :) She breaks down for relatively easy transport and is nice and symmetrical which means I can use her for initial fitting of costumes :)
This is progress of a different sort as I have wanted a proper display mannequin for so many years ;) I can now put up a drape across those book shelves and take pretty in progress photos :) as well as get some initial fittings done on costumes before testing them on me :) |

Re: General Progress By firecat70. 26/05/10, 12:03 pm |
| I bought some red slip ons today for Kiki from Cotton On. My friend who was with me wanted some too so they were only $12.50! Hells yeah! Now I just have to forbid myself from wearing them too much before Auckgeddon ;__; (they look like they will crack/fall apart easily)
I really want to go and sew (naturally since I have two essays and exams coming up!) but my sewing setup is outside in a shed D: |

| Firecat - it's a good thing that it's pouring and freezing cold outside then?
I got help from mum with getting my shirt hem even so I'll be finishing off that apart from the sailor collar tonight. Hopefully I can also grab mum before she goes home to get the measurements I need for said collar so that can be cut out tonight to be ready for tomorrow. |

| I finished making my sailor collar with ribbon trim!! I'm making progress!! I think I'm dreading putting the sleeves in, I've put it off for 3/4 days now... Tomorrow it's putting it all together - meaning: sleeves attached with ribbon trimmed cuffs, collar sewn on and eyelets put in. Then I'm done!! |

| @Karianna Thanks!
@JVCA I'm using what's left of some 3mm black HIPS (styrene) sheet I had from another project, it's way too thick really but I'm too cheap to buy more It'll be a 40K character but I'm keeping the specifics kinda hush hush. Not because I want to keep it a secret but because I don't want to publicly commit to it (any more than I have already that is) in case I don't get it done for 'Geddon I'm documenting it all over on lj though, if you're curious drop me a message |

Re: General Progress By Mischa. 29/05/10, 08:53 am |
| Those Gauntlents look fantastic- very smooth and well shaped
http://twitpic.com/1pwrnh here's the baby if anyone is curious (NO NOT IN MY TUMMY)
I don't put my upcoming ones in my signature for the same reason! Less pressure :)
--- Anyways I've done a mock up for my SOB corset and I'm pretty happy with the fit (I cheated, it's vaguely strechy and the back laces up with elastic) so technically it's more like a girdle! |

Re: General Progress By JVCA. 29/05/10, 08:59 am |
| @Belakor & Mischa: I can understand what you mean - for me it works in the opposite way though. If I feel more pressure, I'm more likely to get it done! Then again, the stuff I'm doing doesn't require nearly the technical mojo that either of yours does. It's more of a 'getting off my ass and doing it' issue than a 'time and hopefully not having to remake stuff' issue (though there's often some of that too. orz) |

Re: General Progress By Belakor. 29/05/10, 12:38 pm |
| @Mischa Thanks! They're not quite so smooth now but the shape is getting better, in a couple days they should be the right shape and maybe a day or two after that they'll be covered in paint!
Small update on the earlier pic
- Spoiler:
The gloved pic is not particularly good, for some reason the gloves are too small now and I still need to adjust the fit of the armour. It doesn't sit right either since everything is just balancing.
I find that usually the less pressure there is the better, sometimes it does help to have some pressure to keep me motivated like you said JVCA, once I'm about half way through, but either way I'm always working that week before it has to be done and usually painting things hours before I have to get on a plane |
