Scariest game you've ever played/Scary games in general. By Saiyajin Mui. 10/01/10, 12:46 am |
| To me it'd have to be Fatal Frame 2 (Known as Project Zero 2: Crimson Butterfly here.) That one scared the hell out of me. There were a couple of scenes in Condemned II that got me too.
Funny enough I tend to be OK with games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill.
So folks, what games scare you? |

| Yeah Project Zero is probably the only game I actually have to stop playing after a while because it scares me too much.. Call of Cthulhu: dark corners of the earth freaked me out quite a lot, until I became really good with a shotgun. Dead Space frightened me, but more in a jumping way. Oh and of course F.E.A.R. I don't like enclosed spaces and I like them even less when there's a scary little girl rushing at you in them. |

| Half-Life 2. //fail I rented the orange box from the video shop for portal and decided to try out HL. In retrospect it was a dumb idea because I'm very jumpy and paranoid. And the parts in Portal where they had the cake is a lie stuff (like, behind the push out walls and things) scared me too because I've had a bad run in with those images that jump out at you. D:
i'm so fail xD |

| yer I have Project Zero 2 also. My sister had to get shipped over from aussie. but I wouldn't say it's that scary as everyone says it is even though rated the 2nd most scaryist game but I can't really think of that many scary games itself. ( shouldn't really say I play because of the age thingy) |

| I fail because the games I have aren't remotely scary, but there were a few bits in Devil May Cry 3 that freaked me out (particularly, the Gigapede jumping out of you from nowhere in Mission 8: Leviathan Whale). Also, I swear my heart stops every time I run into a random encounter in Digital Devil Saga. Especially that one time I was in the Solids base trying to navigate my way around those heads with the glowing eyes. xD;
And I haven't played it myself, but parts of Bioshock are pretty creepy. OH GAWD THAT SPLICER WASN'T THERE BEFORE SHIII - |

| For me it's either the GCN remake of Resident Evil or Silent Hill 2.
Personally I didn't actually find Project Zero as scary as I was hoping it would be (I've only played the first one).
Another horror game that comes to mind is some online horror game where you just have to keep clicking weird objects until something different happens, it gave me a shock the first time playing it, here it is if you want to give it a try. |

| Some of the time, I find the scariest moments aren't when there's action... its the waiting. Specially if the game has alot of ambience etc
I found Project Zero 1 and 3 scarier then 2 ... oO Maybe cause 2 felt so open, whereas 1 and 2 you're more in-closed? From memory anyway. But eh, I hate hearing the ghost before seeing it *shudder* blinding and broken neck ;-;
Thief has some of the most scariest moments I have ever played in a game. Well certain levels, especially The Shalebridge Cradle in Thief 3, OMG you can't get any worse then a abandoned/haunted orphange and psychiatric asylum . I spent the whole level crawling and hiding in the shadows... I think that one level took me over 4 hours to complete.
Course I wait until night till I play these kinda games... why I do that to myself I don't know. >_> I hate and love being scared lol.
Speaking of which, I'ma gonna click that link tonight thanks Butterfly Edge! =D |

| Half life 1... At the end, when you are on the alien world, and you are maneuvering on those cursed walkway branch things that are a hair thin. One wrong move and you fall aaaaaaaall that way down... Actually... Same goes for HL2 in that damn citadel... The heart pumps slightly faster because you havent saved in a while, and you really really dont want to fall all that way...

| Funny enough, I seemed OK with the likes of Doom 3. There were one or two bits that startled me. Likewise can be said about Bioshock too.
Most of the time in Silent Hill, the rule tends to be:
"If it moves, it needs to die."
I need to play Dead Space. I'll hopefully get that soon. |

And for some retarded reason I always played it at night.
My partner 'attains' scary games quite a lot. I find it very hard to watch them D:

Re: Scariest game you've ever played/Scary games in general. By demon-girl. 10/01/10, 10:44 am |
| The worst thing is when playing dark/scary games you kind of have to play in the dark because during the day time or if the lights are on it's harder to see. Which goes with most games if the sun is beaming at the tv screen. Oh and when my sister had a japaness exchange friend over they played and she cried and they were only at the start of fatal fame 3. And then when we had an other exchange student over ( my sister loves them FYI) she turned off the tv screen the the ps2 itself. |

Re: Scariest game you've ever played/Scary games in general. By Guest. 10/01/10, 12:16 pm |
| i didn't think dead space was that scary.
the only bit i remember jumping at was when one of the monsters was like
"i'm dead
ahahahaha not physics you stab"
likewise with bioshock - the vita-chambers made the game too easy for it to seem scary, even on the hardest difficulty setting. silent hill and fatal frame are definitely a lot more creepy; probably because they don't rely on jump tactics as much as just having scary atmospheres.
there was this half-life mod i played once called afraid of monsters which tbh
seriously creeped me out. |

| Haunting Ground I think it was called? Yea I didn't play much of that >___> I kept feeling bad because I'd abandon the dog fleeing from whatever was trying to kill me DX
And Clock Tower 3. Which I didn't play but watched my sister playing. We were hiding from Scissor Man in a bathroom stall then the music faded away indicating that he'd gone. Exit the stall and STAB HELLO I'M HERE LULZ.
That was mega freaky.
OH AND TOMB RAIDER XDDD I think oldest sister was playing and me and the other one were just watching. We'd just managed to get away from some velociraptors and jumping over spikes that would stab you to death and such. And were laughing at our near death experience. Turn around and we all screamed. There was this little mummy thing (as in the egyptian thing) but it's hands were like.. clawing at it's face and mouth open in a scream.
That day was awesome XD |
