... Wow. Spotlight has some of those for $12 each, this website would have them at around $5-6 .__. THANK YOU~ |

Re: General Progress By Static. 21/01/10, 06:46 am |
| Yeah. I will not ever buy dye from Spotlight again - it's just not worth it! Shipping does come into it, but even then, you get more dye for less moolah. You can buy soda ash locally, not sure about their after-dye fixatives though - I got a bottle, and it seems to have worked..? oO! Fingers crossed! Also - GRRR. I started putting the lace onto the dress this morning and it doesn't take as long as I though it would - I want to finish it! Damn dayjob!! |

Re: General Progress By Rolly. 21/01/10, 12:36 pm |
| I ironed on almost all of my appliqué pieces onto my costume. I did 3 of them - I just can't seem to get rid of the puckering! The one on the left has waves in it after ironing, the rest two haven't been ironed.
What's wrong. I'm using regular printer paper as stabiliser underneath...

Static: I could not find orange, but could find red last year. Fashions.
Rolly. Not sure how, but it looks like you have sewn the fabric into puckers maybe. I don't blame you, it's hard to guarantee not to do it. Or did you iron the puckers into it. Either way just iron it again, careful to work the puckers out.
My progress, well I got kicked out of the library, and was not allowed to get one of the reference books I wanted. What library closes at 4pm. Still have not figured out what pattern to use for shirt, or kilt. |

If I don't iron them, the green stays flat. But the one on the left side has been ironed, which resulted in waves appeared in the green. D: |

Re: General Progress By JVCA. 23/01/10, 02:49 pm |
| Try pressing the green first, THEN ironing it? The waves are possibly forming because the glue has come unstuck, and when you stick it back down again you're pushing out it unevenly and it's getting stuck like that? (My explanation sucks, but my logic is sound - it looks like a patch of my applique where I had an accident and had to unstick and restick it.) Did you do a test patch first, out of curiousity? |

If it helps, I've been dry pressing/ironing it and I'm a complete ironing noob with hardly any experience. We've only started owning an iron late last year... and it's only used for cosplay.
What's the difference between pressing and ironing?
I didn't do a test patch first.... which I should've done on my practice piece. :< Maybe I should go and iron that one tomorrow and see if it ends up like the wrinkly one... and then try and figure out if I can fix it.
Progress: cut out collar for yukata and sewed one side on. Cut sleeves out and lined them up/measured them against main body piece. |
