Well, last time we had about sixty roughly. Maybe that amount again? I'm not sure though, because last time we had posters up around town and stuff (more advertising). Umm.... spread the word, guys 8D;;

If you can find a tutorial or Youtube video on how to make them, as well as what materials you want to use (with price and where to get them)
then I'll make ten or so. You'd also have to describe what you wanted for the tag.

1.50 per badge isn't bad at all. Personally I'd spring for the larger 32mm ones for 1.70. So people can donate $2 if they want AND they get a badge.

As far as food planning goes I was thinking the following:

-Home-made sushi (made AT home, I don't want to spend time at the picnic making sushi when I could be chatting it up). Mostly vegetarian and authentic (i.e. no chicken teriyaki with avocado).

-Pinwheels (pastry rolls) with feta & spinach and some with meaty bits, cheese, etc.

- Tarts with fruits and veggies for those of us being healthy.

- Trays of cookies, namely sugar, chocolate chip, oatmeal, yo-yos/melting moments if I have the time, and then some allergy free macaroons. :)

@Cassiel yeah, for sure! I'll look into it later today 8D;

For the tag I might do those myself. It's easy enough to print off a big sheet of tags and cut them all up and laminate them. We have a laminator (that we haven't put to use yet...) and a cutting board and craftknives, so it'd be easy enough to do them. Plus, I could probably fit at least sixty or so tags onto a page.

@motivational I suppose - but there's something about handmade bracelets that seems 'friendlier', don't you think? >w>;; //lame

Well if everyone else wants to do sweets I'll just do savories. I find that at these kind of events there's always enough [sweet] food to make you I'll anyway. I was actually gonna post saying I didn't want to do savories (because sweet things are more fun!) but I shall do what the hoards require! =)

As for badges, I know you can buy a badge presser on TradeMe for around 100 bucks. You can buy the blank badges for.. IDK. But that may be cheaper to buy the maker for future use?
Anyway, badge presser. But if you want them to be made from the shop, you could split it between a few people and get people to pay $2 for it?

@syill Even if we did get a badge maker and had people pay $2 for each badge or something, even if we did use it over and over it would never actually be able to cover the cost of the maker and the badges in the end D:

@azeria Great, thanks a lot :) The bracelets will most likely end up being misanga/friendship bracelet types with little tags attached (I'm thinking sewn onto the bracelets rather than hanging off the end). I'm skimming through designs on the internet and in some little books I have now, so I will get back to you guys on this asap! At the end of it if you guys hand me the bracelets that you've made then I can get to attaching the tags onto them myself, shouldn't be hard!

Also, I can't find the cost of the bracelet-yarns online >____> Someone might have to go in and check.

uhhhm so i totally didn't read the rest of the thread

but i have a button maker.
it's not super magical or anything, but it'll do the trick. depending on how many badges you'd want to print in how many colours and stuff we could split the cost of ink and the buttons, which really shouldn't be too much. and if you're planning to make under 20 or so i can probably make do with the buttons and ink i have remaining, so

...Knowing how ridiculously pricy Spotlight can be, I really think it's really crucial that we know for sure what the price of those yarns are, just so we know that it is cheaper. I don't want to go HAY LETS DO IT and then it turns out the yarns are like, five bucks a pop gonk

Madja: Yarns are fairly pricey at Spotlight, at least $3 per skein. I don't think there are too many cheaper places around though - Goldings definitely have them, but I'm not sure what their prices are.
