EDIT: WHY DO I DO THIS TO MYSELF NOW I AM DOING RANI'S PATTERN TOO. Not that I'm complaining - it'll be fun. But oh god, why did I choose *now* to get a goddamn real job?! Anyway, progress from today...

- re-did the gradient dye removal from my turqoise silk. It looks a lot more "marine" than I planned...ie, IT WENT GREEN...but it will just have to do. Hoping to get the tutu cut tomorrow.
- bought a kids' umbrella to re-cover for Claire's parasol.
- decided that doing Rani's Zephiw pattern was an awesome idea, and sketched it into something doable for my meagre patterning skills and someone who doesn't speak sylvie!pattern. Let's see how we go with this...

I'm still in an anti-sewing mood OTL. I SWEAR I WILL WORK MY ASS OFF THIS WEEKEND. IT'S MY LAST WEEKEND. OHGOD.

I think the berries and leaves for the Quadropus are too heavy OTL.

i... swear i'll start justina tonight... still haven't found a pleated skirt tutorial i can understand, though. D| what width do you use? like, twice your waist measurement or something?

with me and pleated skirts I usually start with 3m (sometimes 2m joined to 1m if I'm too poor to buy more fabric) and then pleat it as I go but I think there is a specific way of measuring?

The way of measuring is to add a certain amount to every pleat - usually two inches, sometimes three. Here is something I prepared earlier....not...

I so don't know if this makes sense, but uhm...that's how I do them? I don't always curve the pleating panel, but for justina I think it would look better.

Yay, I think I've done my pattern for Calintz' sleeves Very Happy

Needs to be tweaked a bit, but I'll do that with the good copy. I'm going to try making them out of pvc (the stuff I made Abel's hip bag thing out of), but it may not work as the coating gets ruined with too much stretching D: EDIT: although actually one way isn't as bad as the other, and should be fine for my purposes as long as I cut it on with right grain yay

Claire's tutu has been cut and backed with heavier cotton, and I am currently experimenting with gradient dyeing the tips of the petals. I'm currently painting the dye on in various concentrations, but it's rinsing out really easily - which is surprising, given that it's pure silk. Hmm.

I'm leaving the sleeves for now, but all (Ha!) I have to do to finish them is reshape the top, add 'bias', and paint. I want to leave the shaping 'til I've made the top.

Now to clean the lounge (where I've been working) for dinner as my aunty is coming D:

NO PHOTOS, IT LOOKS REALLY BAD.

EDIT: If I stretch the pvc one way the coating gives and cracks up, but the other way it stretches less and doesn't crack haha.
