I need a dressform. 8|

I'm struggling with patternmaking. And I've decided to screw the artbook version where her hip is all bare skin and just make do with her skirt and no leathery bit like in the render version.

I have nasty stretch marks on my hip anyway and this way it'll be SO MUCH EASIER to get things done.

Making skirt and top as two pieces makes more sense to me because at least that way I can get it on and off.

@Jess: wow that patterning looks amazing! And a good idea to use newspaper instead of fabric for a mockup! I'll try that when I (finally) do my Calintz shirt - I've been using the fact I have no mock up fabric as an excuse to put it off.

Lol, I've always used newspaper (I'm stingy and Calico is bizarrely expensive...) - it doesn't drape quite the same but you can still put darts in it and what-not, and seeing as my family gets the Herald delivered it's free and an almost infinite supply. Very Happy

I WILL BE REMAINING SHORT ALSO. //will get no taller than 160cm, mostly less than that

I either need some sort of slippers to modify, or make shoes from scratch xD (Which I don't think will be too hard anyway).

Rowan: check out trademe - I scored ten metres of black calico for like $50 a few months back. Not dirt dirt cheap, but cheap. Old sheets nobody wants?

Static: That's something to look into! I know Shannon got a massive amount of drill of trademe recently for quite cheap.

All the stuff for my shoes is done, everything just needs to be glued and stapled to the base. Although actually now that I think about it I might add a clear vinyl strip under the front strap for strength....

I am looking forward to making a mockup of my claire tutu tonight! I may also get around to making the little accessories, like gauntlets and collar. Whee! I have a WHOLE DAY to work on costumes tomorrow!

Also, I just ot an incredibly cryptic email from Xtoys about my shoes...

So we were thinking of using Jess's Kyouya wig, since she won't use it again.

I think from here I'm gunna cut the pieces out of my lining/mock-up fabric so I can see how the actual fabric itself sits compared to the newspaper. I should probably pattern the petals at the bottom (and around the neckline) first though...

I've already got some silk to use for the final, but I need to redye it. It went turquoise by mistake, so I'm going to dip-bleach it (with dye remover, not actual bleach Razz

) and then do the darker edges on the petals. I'm actually a whole lot further along than I thought I was!

Can I get opinions on where the split should go?
It's hard to think it goes down the middle in this picture but it clearly does in the render and the split definitely STARTS in the middle in the HTK pictures as demonstrated here. CURSE YOU MAGNA CARTA AND HTK AND ALL YOUR COSTUME INCONSISTENCIES.

Also, the arm guard on his left arm, I've based it off that last link above, but HERE there's either nothing but bracelet thingies, or those bracelet things are keeping the arm guard on. Thoughts?

...why is he stabbing her in that last pic? ._. I think your drawing is right, only the bottom opening of the vest should be further left. I reckon the bracelets are holding the arm guard on, yeah.

Pura, what is it that's giving you trouble?

I have more progress pics - I realised the form of the skirt was sitting too low (curse my short legs!) so I brought everything up a few inches and changed the way I did the bottom, and added the petals. I'm much happier with it now - I'm just going to pattern the neck petals in, then I'll cut out my lining/mock-up fabric! Very Happy

@alex; i have a slightly longer black layered wig that you could use/chop up (used it for ulquiorra/L/soi fon etc) that would give you more length? say if you want it cause then i can send it up with jess' amila wig.

@Jess; Just getting the shape right xD. I have it now though. Started cutting it out at Rani's house, so now I won't get more progress until Saturday xD

All my stuff is now at Rani's house, apart from my bow stuff, so I'll makes those while at home. //been putting it off 8D;;

Does anybody know for certain what it is that dye remover is actually CALLED? I have used it before and it was amazing, but can I remember the name? NO. Brand? NOOOO. I'm positive it wasn't in dylon's new packaging, so it may have been an old tin? Whatever it was, it wasn't just the stuff that takes out colour runs, it was a dye remover, and it was awesome. physics AWESOME. And I desperately need some more ;____;
