General Doctor Who Geek-Out space! By Madam Madhatter. 15/08/09, 08:38 am |
| After we hijacked Admins Dominari Liber! mini-mafia Limbo (The Library) I figure a general Doctor Who thread could be useful. If it is not it will die a slow death and sink into the pits of the forum...
Anywho!
Favourate Episodes? Characters? Worlds? Monsters? Quotes?
The 'new' episodes? Or the 'Classic'???
What do you think of the spin-offs? Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures?
Season 6: -What are your feelings on the more complex over arching story? -Do you feel this season is darker than previous seasons? -What are your thoughts them taking a mid-season break after episode 7? -What’s your favourite episode so far? -Got any Theories???
***Be warned that since we are discussing the show that there will possibly be spoilers, however I ask that any discussion of newly released episodes, or any seriously spoiling comments be spoiler-ised in the spoiler option under 'others' in your format options on top of your post. With a note outside the spoiler tag of what episode/ season/ spin-off the comment is about so people can judge if they will spoil something***

| I love Dr Who!! I got hooked when one of my friends suggested it (the new series) and started from there! I have all but season 4 (of the current series) of the boxed sets and have both season 1 and 2 of Torchwood. I've never seen any of the classic series, I plan to sometime. Fav Characters: David Tennant and Billie Piper (though Catherine Tate comes a close second). Also love John Barrowman (Captian Jack)! Fav Ep: Blink (it scared the hell out of me watching it the first time I saw it - I needed my soft toy!) Loved Torchwood unitl they started fiddling with it 1/2 way through the 2nd season (I've heard bad things about the next season). |

| Favourite Characters would be the 5th and 10th doctors Favourite episode would be Time Crash (was like omg two favourite doctors I'd never thought I'd see in an episode together) then The Library I prefer the new episodes alot more than the classic ones I do prefer the original Cybermen though I love Dr Who mosters to death, well most of them anyway, my definite favourites are the Daleks and Vashta Nerada though
Torchwood beats Sarah Jane Adventures any day, by like 3million |

| @Sakura petals: I like Captain Jack I have just started watching Season 3 of Torchwood... It is interesting. Its more like a massive movie they cut into 5 parts than a TV series but hey. I am going to with-hold my judgement until I have finished it.
@Personified Insanity
Yay to the 5th Doctor! Though the 3rd and 4th were really good as well. The 10th has to be my fav.
It was really funny when i was looking up all my fav episodes of Dr Who I noticed that they were all written by Steven Moffat.
The Gas-mask kid ones The Girl in the Fireplace Blink Time Crash and The Library ones
Amazing-ness happens when the Doctor runs into himself. Like in the 5 Doctors
Who doesn't love the Darleks? The Master is fun too. The version of him was the only real good part of the season 3 fin I think. I liked the Weeping Angels as well -how can a statue be so creepy???
K-9 is always brilliant. |

| Nodding at those eps listed! All of them are great!! Love the Girl in the Fireplace!!! And now because of Blink, I'll never look at angel statues the same way again!!! You'll have to tell me what season 3 of Torchwood is - really hope that the rumors aren't true (though you might have to PM so as not to give anything away). I love it when you have the moments of things clicking together! Like at the beginning of Season 3 of Dr Who about Capt. Jack - it still amazes me about that! |

| I've only watched the new series... and the amount of classic episodes scares me, so it will probably stay that way unless my dad decides he wants to watch them. (It was on his 'oooh' of excitement that my family watches it in the first place.) And er... I'm a very casual fan. Except when it comes to Torchwood, which I fangirl extensively.
I have exactly four Dr Who favourite episodes and they're "The Girl in the Fireplace", "Blink" and the last two of season four. Those last one of season four were mostly just me being giggly over the crossover-yness of it though.
Ummm... Aliens that get a bit of their biology explained are my favourite. The wormhole creating manta rays? Yes please!
Favourites would be Ten. And Donna. And Donna's family. And Sarah-Jane. Then from Torchwood it goes roughly like this: Tosh, Ianto, Rhys, Owen (tied), Gwen (tied), Jack.
Yes~ More a Torchwood fan over here. And er... I am aware of the big spoilers for season 3, but I'd much rather not get into discussion of them just yet until I actually see it. And, you know, have time to mourn and come up with whacky theories about what the physics happens next because season three is kind of WTF like that. |

| I have season three of torchwood. I spent about a day in shock going "wow they actually did that". but still great fun just damn dark and depressing. my fav doctor who episodes are the empty child/the doctor dances and the girl in the fireplace. So im looking foward to more of Moffats writing. As for the older stuff ive seen all i could get my hands on but I cant even pretend thats even half of it.... I actually have a hatred towards the sarah jane adventures but I couldnt help but smile to see K9 back for the stolen earth endings Have you guys seen the two specials yet?? |

| Season 4 end was EPICly good!
- Spoiler:
I loved seeing all the characters turn up! And Donna as the Doctor-Donna was brilliant! Seeing her after she had lost all her memories was so sad though! Because then you remember just how much she had developed as a character through out the series. I have them on my external hard-drive if there is anyway to get them to you Sakura.
After you have seen season 4 watch this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWMGR6aJPZc Its an Alternate Universe AMV- Spoiler:
about Human-Doctor and Rose It is SOOOO well done!
Yup I have seen the lastest two specials. They were good as well!
- Spoiler:
ohhh he will knock four times aye??? Who else knocked/ tapped/ drumed four times? Maybe?

My sentiments exactly!!
MM - you could bring it to the Murder Mystery party (it can be your pressie to me j/k)! If you don't mind. Before hand I can quickly transfer them to my laptop (and will have to be patient about watching them). |

Re: General Doctor Who Geek-Out space! By Madam Madhatter. 16/08/09, 10:06 am |
| No problem!
I'm interested in how Matt Smith is going to spin the Doctors character.
What I have seen of him he seems like he will do a good job. The interviews of him were entertaining and... exciting And the fact that Steven Moffat said that after they interviewed him they knew that It was always going to be him bodes well. But I refuse to really judge until I have seen him in action as the Doctor. |

| That's true - can't judge someone on something that they haven't done! I don't really know too much about him - all I know is that I'll cry when Tennant changes into him (will miss the 10th Dr!!) |

._. Torchwood follows Captain Jack Hartness. It's good, as long as you are okay with "adult themes" |

Also, Torchwood. I started watching it by myself. Mum started watching it with me at episode 3 - SO GLAD she wasnt there for episode 2.... *coughorgasimfeedingaliencough* |

| I liked Matt Smith better when he dressed like Dream from Sandman... *does not like the tweed* but eh... haven't seen him as the Doctor yet, so my opinion is still completely in the air. Except I do hope they give him an accent. He was totally adorable in the Sally Lockhart series as Jim.
And er... I seem to be one of a few who patiently wait for TV2 to do their worst in regards to actually saying when they'll show TW season 3. *feels a bit weird* Although they are due to get an angry email from me, especially since I received one back in March saying they'd run it as soon as possible. *waits for Primeval to finish screening* |
