some dubs aren't that bad. i think johnny bosch is probably one of the better english VAs out there. (:

Sounds like a giggle, but yes - why are there never any original voice actor guests? I'm sure they'd be welcomed, and if it's a language barrier thang then I'm sure an interpretor wouldn't be a problem at a con.

Or a fight between the Japanese and English VAs. Could be fun, as long as you give the English VA a foam weapon and the Japanese one a real one... :-p

mrr our wish (the people are biased against dubbed anime ... me included) but tchyeah you learn to take what you can get

i think that its because the fan base in NZ just isnt big enough to warrant a japanese seiyuu to come here

e.g. Chihara Minori was in Kuala Lumpur this year (tears of blood fall TTwTT) and the Klang Valley (think Auckland City alone) has the same population as the entire NZ so ... maybe if the entire population of NZ liked anime then maybe? 8DDD

Regardless of whether or not I like the job they did on the characters, I like them for the characters they represent. :/

I don't care if they do a crap job. Besides, the VA Panels are always awesome. I just think a seiyuu at one of the panels would be sugar honey iced tea boring.

idk im just horribly biased because i actually do think that seiyuu voice acting makeup 30% if not 50% of the reason why i enjoy anime (//shudders at wallflowers TERRIBLE seiyuu cast)

Yes, I agree. The people making the anime choose the voice for the character and that has a large part of the character 'design' I think.

Also, why are all the American VAs so damn squeaky sounding?! It makes it painful to watch them. Admittedly following things on subs can also be a pain, but it shall remain my preference.

It's OK, Alex, I'm not shooting you down. Just expressing my opinion. I guess we're just going to have to agree to disagree on this point. :-p

though i must admit that the americans are getting a TEENSY bit better at casting VA's for dubbing now. I actually found the Ouran dub vaguely likable <3 except for Tamaki >> no one can be tamaki better than Miyano Mamoru not Fukuyama Jun (Drama CD) not the dude ... whatshisname ... Vash (XP did not like)
