| Boylove is prettier and angstier. Girl love is just bouncy and overdramatic. XD
Ionno - I don't have anything against Yuri - I guess I just haven't found any two female characters that I feel would make a great couple. Is that strange? I don't know. |

yuri anime: utena (well not really but honestly how can ANYONE miss all the innuendoes), maria-sama ga miteru, strawberry panic (like maria-sama ga miteru but on a COMPLETELY different level ... R18 i would think ... or at least R16) Utena! It's such a good series. But it's not just yuri, it's got everything, just the main couple of the series is a yuri one and it's pretty damn good one at that, and yeah, a LOT of innuendo.
On the topic of yaoi-bats I'm not really fond of them mainly due to getting harassed every now and then at Chchgeddon when I was Ichimaru Gin (Aizen was around so I didn't actually mind that time) and Lelouch (lack of a Suzaku and general Geass fandom at the time made me question whether they just did it for the sake of it)
I'm not opposed to yaoi, I certainly support some yaoi pairings (Seishirou x Subaru ftw) but I'm not really fond on how fandom in general seems to express their love for yaoi with aforementioned bats and over-enthused fangirlisms. Thankfully we don't get that much of it in NZ. |

...I actually would've thought it was the other way 'round - and with yuri there isnt really a "top" and "bottom" most times; it's more equal. And even though Utena is more full of innuendo than a convo twixt me and Kitten, it annoys the living crap outta me. But YEAH YURI FANS REP-RAH-SENT. Also I'm with kage on the genre thing, but I would never apply it to a real couple - that would be weeeeird.
And Kitten? You just asked what if you looked good in a dress. Damn right I'm calling you a fangirl. |

| fangirlism is fine ... physics im a physics scary fangirl UKUKUKUKUKUKUKU you seriously do not want to know how far i can go with my fangirling ... its just i dont like fangirling especially if it involves whacking two cosplayers together just because theyre the same character unless theyre entirely willing to do so (2769 anyone? 8D) and bats are exagerrating the thing entirely and as much as i like pairings ... it feels wrong pairing real life people especially friends ... well thats because all my mates are geeks ... but still ==||| it feels REEEEEALLY wrong XD

| Then why isn't there a general het genre? >>
And this is why I don't agree with seme and uke. It can be funny, but srsly. It just doesn't happen like that! Seme and uke are the basics of a bad fanfiction, which is why most fandoms are going downhill imho. |

Re: Yaoi bats By sakuramiyabi. 17/11/08, 04:57 am |
| you know that seme and uke come from martial arts right? where seme would be the attacker and the uke would be the receiver espcecially when theyre doing kata (basic forms)
and you cant really have a yaoi relationship without a seme or uke basis
actually yeah you could but it keeps it more consistent and easier to understand when you have a fixed seme or uke
i mean im sure everyone knows the acronym for yaoi right?
"yama ga nai, ochi ga nai, imi ga nai" ie. no mountain, no fall, no meaning ... ie no climax no anti-climax no meaning i guess??
so you cant really question yaoi since it has no meaning or storyline even if there is an attempted one ... its usually yeah ... yaoi has no meaning whatsoever XD and yeah there is a general hentai genre its called ecchi (lit. sex) *thinks of futari ecchi* and hentai is a really broad term ... so its like hentai includes everything like ecchi, yaoi, yuri, etc

Re: Yaoi bats By Static. 17/11/08, 04:58 am |
| There is a het genre...? At least in good fandoms. It's so funny; when i was younger I was all, OMGHETGROSSSSS. I agree with the seme/uke urgh thing - I don't even know how those terms even came into being; it's not like they're really needed...but honestly, as long as there is fiction written by tween fans, fiction!secks will be labelled and categorised and bemoaned by the rest of us.
@CMK: doesn't the hentai/echhi umbrella cover everything? I thought it was just a measure of how explicit something was. |

And no, not all yaoi and yuri is equal to hentai =/ I meant that het is spilt into MANY categories. Yaoi and yuri just get called yaoi and yuri. And it's mostly about sex. Het recieves lashes of un-sex stuff. Mehhh.

EVERYONE including the little boy next door will 10 times out of 10 be GAY even if the man next door seems to have a wife ... thats jsut fake becuase he will be GAY though there are exceptions but the straight characters are always SUPER minor XD oh i dont know why i had to say that XD |

Going to a zoo where every placard has 'Carbon based lifeform' on it wouldn't really do it for me.

Um. You know what I meant... And it certainly wasn't that egh.
I guess I wish for a world where we aren't seperated because of our preferences for either gender. And that carries through to fandom because I'm opinionated... =3 |

| I like that you said that. I wish for this also. Although being a completely indecisive wench who likes everything (and thus, everyone), I personally don't understand how people can be 100% gay just as much as I don't understand people who are 100% straight - and this carries through to fandom XP

| I'm not 100% haha, and I believe everyone likes both. I find guys attractive and could go out with a guy, but I could never have sex with him. Been there, done that, no thanks ;3
Since most people don't understand that it can be complicated, it's easier to say I'm just gay, and then explain to anyone who asks. |
