[WCB09] When do people want the Ball?

So, people, when do people think is the best time for the Ball.

Personally, my vote is on Saturday night, but not fussed about month.

Ah-ha! So it was all one person!

I wanted people to be able to choose which months/days suited, not just say which one they thought was best.

hah, erm, yeah... i'm not sure how accurate the 12 votes are considering i definitely chose more than 1 day and month. ie: i'm relatively open for the date, assuming i get my a into g on that v cosplay.

Saturday night would be best, and I'm not too fussed about what month it is...but preferably not somewhere around late jan early feb as I'll be doing the whole moving house somewhere around then...

Looks like a saturday is a winner...I vote mid january. Pre-uni rush, post-xmas rush, post-new years-overindulgence-misery. Also, school won't have started yet - is it possible to maybe pick a date that's immediately prior to the secondary schools going back? Less likely that way to clash with young'uns going on holiday, considering they make up the larger portion of the welly cosplayers...

Saturday does seem to be winning. That leaves plenty of time for set-up, take down and commuters to get here and home again.

xD For a moment there, I was almost going to give the "remember-we-can't-change-the-date-for-one-person", but then I realised that the more people we have then the easier it will be to cover all costs.

And in anycase, I have advertised this discussion as much as humanly possible and other people have too. Rosy & Ruby have asked for a specific timeframe, and so have a few others. So we should try to oblige them. If other people have specific timeframes, this discussion is available for everyone to post on and discuss - we can't work around other peoples plans if we don't know what they are!!

Ok, looking at my Windows Calender for January, which appears to be winning, there are 4 Saturdays.

Third - people will still be asleep from New Years
10th - nothing much to recommend or otherwise
17th - is too late for Rosy/Vectoress and any of their potential friends
24th - nothing much either way
31st - cutting close to high school.

Personally, I'd always hated doing anything the weekend before school started. When does school start again?

school just manages to start the day AFTER we get back which means we get all the goodness of majour jet lag, whoopie.
But agreed, close to school does not work well.

See, why would I look these things up myself?

High schools must start between the 27th of Jan and 5th of Feb next year.

Assuming we want to put this in holidays and not too close to the start to give out of towners a chance to recover (I know my olds would have preferred more time for recovery/buying new uniform etc), I reckon either the 10th or 17th would be our best bet. As 17th is not good for some people:

I am officially throwing my hat into the ring and voting for the 10th of January, 2009, as the date for the First (Annual? Biannual?) Wellington Cosplay Ball.

Objections? Suggestions? Good reasons we should pick a different date?
