After a group discussion we've opted for the 10th of January, which is
a Saturday.
The event we have planned is a 'Cosplay Ball' (a bit like a
masquerade/costume ball except with wilder costimes) and we're
planning to have it at night (the ball itself would be sometime
between 6pm and 11pm, although we'd need some time beforehand to set
up and some time after to tidy up).

Can you tell me the planned date for the event,the nature of the event and
the the hours during the day/evening you require the hall for. We often
have the hall out of action during January for maintenance and cleaning.

I know of one person who will be away on the 10th xD. She said she didn't care about the ball though. Anti-social people I know xD.

Thank you for sendings of emails. But bloody hell! If they're going to be difficult maybe we should look somewhere else? I know I would never have got that kind of nonsense if I had wanted to hire my school hall! Although I was the best behaved kid in a school of about 600... Very Happy

You'd contact the office people and say "Can a non-profit group please use the hall for a ball on (date)?"

lol, your mum said you were too young to go to a non-alcoholic, non drugs, cosplay ball?? Or just too young to be the contact person to the school. Razz

But um, yeah, that sucks about the reply so far. She obviously doesn't seem to be exactly in a helping mood since there were no other suggestions apart from good luck. Is it worth someone approaching them through outside channels to see if they respond with a different answer. Or if one of the staff members would be prepared to aid with arranging it (ie: a teacher you guys get along with). I expect a fair part of their refusal is that it's during the break, and in the schools best interest they'd want someone onsite to ensure no damage or excursions from the hall area if it's not secured. Worst case if it still goes with your school hall it might be an option to pay one of the teachers a nominal amount for their time and factor it into the operating costs (and hence ticket price). Erm, that's my ideas anyway.
