@tracer- was thinking for Kaito's bling- thin metal with gold metallic finish? i'll try source some thin aluminium for you~

so~~~~~~~~~ anyone made any progress/started on their outfits? 8DD

I've started Len's coat, overlocked the main body pieces and lining, will try and get it done by New years lol

oh and just a couple of reminders, would be helpful to keep a log book or something through out the making of your costumes and to take photos of each piece (like the insides, before and after shots etc.) It might be good to get the entry form in by the online deadline, as we'd be printing out LOADS if we end up handing in a paper ver.

and remember the weapons rule. We don't want any weapons or props to be taken out of the comp as the judges have started doing prop checks.
............ which the website does not have the rules up atm. But I think it's no fully wooden or metal props, you're allow to use wood and metal for bases but it mustn't be too heavy.

So for the swords, we'll probably have to avoid making them solely out of wood and the poles on the staffs, I'm not entirely sure about it cause I used an extremely thin wooden dowel for Alec'c staff with craft foam and cardboard for the head, which was allowed.
So maybe thin pvc pipes or thin cardboard tubes because the staffs are thicker..?

.....the craft foam photo looks real bad xDD its just taped together, I'll glue it together later, and I"m going to add some wire into the neck part to help it keep its shape.
Now I need to do the shoulder, elbows, shins and back.
And finish the leg armour.
& then do the shoes~

Costume progress wise I've re-made the arm bands out of leather and coloured them and I've been working on a mock up pair of boots using a pair of low heels as the base.

Still tossing up what to do as far as the skirt's fabric goes.

I've started sewing Gakupos gloves-waiting on Tracer to return so we can go Kaito shopping.

Finding a deep enough Purple in a fairly sturdy fabric for Gakupo's Hakama and jacket is damn nigh impossible. I may end up having to dye some.

@cacti: pretty sure they're ribbons, most likely straps from the shoes, yea similar to Miku's

@elsie: if you find thin fabric in that colour maybe you could use a thicker lining? or you could even try ebay/online fabric stores

@Cacti; For the shoes I'd go with either ballet flats or some small heeled court shoes with a round toe.
I'd say go for ones that have a back just because they'd be easier to walk in, especially as you'll be wearing stockings so slip ons could fall off quite easily as they can't grip to your skin =P

More progress on armour, I've got wire bases for the back plate, shoulder pauldron and mostly done the knee.
Also got some cardboard from work so I should be able to start on my sword soon.

derp double post but been a while.

@Hannah re sleeves; so it looks like they're attached at the front but then just like loose bias or something at the back? So if they're not actually attached properly at the back and just kind of hang around it it might be easier to move your arms, especially if you make it a litter looser or somehow get elastic in there. Definitely do different mockups to see what works best, we don't want a repeat of your AHS!Miku lack of mobility lmao.

Also I was looking at the rules and didn't see anything on prop weight but if there's anything bigger than 1m in any dimension we need to e-mail them about it, so Miku's staff and possibly any swords.

I'll probably start writing my stuff up on things I've done so far quite soon.

Won't be able to do much until Tuesday though since work.

I'll buy Meiko's fabric before the end of the month, hopefully at Arthur Toye 'cause half off sale. LC and Correction Tape come with me xD

@cacti: yep, ever single thing on the costume must be (well, should be) meantioned in the entry form. The judges don't have much time looking at costumes during judging as there are so many entries. So include photos of all the parts of the outfit/inside seams/props would be good.

yea, as Azeria said. Most of our weapons will be over 1m, so we'll need to contact the judges later about that.

Also I'm gonna contact Aikome & Fred soon, I'd rather not record the skit until everyone has either started or absolutely confirmed. I will ~~KILL~~ ~~DESTROY~~ be not happy with those who back out AFTER recording, 'kay? C:

My wig just arived for Neru~
I'm not really sure how to go about styling it OTL
My mum sujested I put it on my sister and cut it, but that might be a bit uncomfortable for her.
But it took me great efforts just to plat it with it on my polystyrene head

^Be careful if you do decide to cut it on a mannequin head, as they're way smaller than human heads and can cause the fringe to be much too short.

I just went through and screen shot a whole bunch of stuff from Paradise of Light and Shadow, I'll upload a bit of the more useful ones.
I basically just got a picture of every single time Meiko appears haha.
...there is one picture where her shoes are different >_< the bits of armour on them layer in the opposite way and it is annoying me muchly :<

Omg it does D888 That's like there's ONE picture where Meiko's shoes layer differently. It annoys me /so/ much now that I've noticed it.

Was wondering what I could use to help keep its shape, I was thinking cardboard or balsa wood? It would need to be quite sturdy at the bottom I'd think.
