[seller] Fabrics and costume pieces and mannequins- cheap! By neimhaille. 20/08/10, 07:33 am |
| I am clearing my stash of fabrics and costumes and things I do not need so thought I'd offer them here first. I live in Auckland so pick ups are fine for those up here and postage to elsewhere will be strictly as per NZ post and you have the option of the packaging (I can do budget and I can do just pick up from the post office ;)) As per the rules my trademe feedback: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Members/Feedback.aspx?member=2091886 And well most of you know where to find me on the last day of every Armageddon ;)
New stuff added Monday 23rd August:
Blue floral saree: $5 Close to 6m long this one but that includes the darker blue pallu as seen.
Soft pleather. Very soft, cannot be used where the fabric is over stretched, so best to flatline with another babric or even fuse carefully. Not sure how much is left but $5/m It died, just thrown out. Sigh it was so nice must have been some chemical reaction.
Not as matte as it looks! Almost glossy 4way PVC. You will not find better quality in NZ- I got this from Geoff's on Lincoln road last year 1.5m long by 1.15wide so enough to make pants or a sleeveless bodysuit etc. $5 the lot.
Black satin Victorian bodice and skirt: $50. Skirt has been hemmed and has a drawstring waist. Bodice zips up the back with an open end zip. Shoulder straps are elastic. All flatlined in cotton so is nice and cool and can be adjusted somewhat.
1920s style coat $30. Rayon plush- pony skin pattern which is why it looks crushed. Fur collar and cuffs hand tinted to look tipped. Body lined but not sleeves. Lining is a shot taffeta in bronze.
Orange wool coat: $10. Design based on the brown coat Eowyn wears in The Two Towers so it could be used as a pattern for that ;) otherwise I'm going to be making a new jacket from it and beware all ye who go to DAE next year ;)
Medieval style dress $40 Black rayon crepe. Was hemmed for someone much shorter than I and I can undo the hem to make it easier to get the right length. Invisible zip up the back. Mystery brocade neckline and belt. Silk sleeve linings.
Wool medieval dress $20 if I can wash this safely. Will try tomorrow and update with photos once dry. Otherwise free to good home if someone is willing to take the risk and wash in their machine.
Irish step dance costume $10 for the fabric. I am tempted to keep the doggies at the front but the outfit was made from a reclained suit. The velvet is glorious and I wish i knew then what I know now as far as how hard it is to find velvet of this quality ;) I'd have saved it...
Novice dress $5 Blue mystery boucle fabric. Bishop sleeves, darted bodice pleated non shaped skirt. Worn to a Singalonga Sound of Music night. So it was as a sort of loli-ish nun's outfit.
All shoes are approx 7-7.5 multiple unless otherwise stated.
All $5 a Pair:
Cotton open cell blanket. I think a double as opposed to queen sized. Dyes really nicely and can be layered for nice textural effects for coats or cloaks etc. $5 Is now cleaning cloths ;) Most excellent for the workroom
Black lycra with silver swirls. Bought to make a Tali costume ( the silver should tone up with acrylic ink but I haven't yet tested this theory). 1.5m by 1.5m $15
Warm egg yolk yellow heavy nylon lycra- low sheen. 1.5 by 1.5m $5
Mustard yellow lycra with regular self stripe (very subtle will try and get a closer photo. Draped over the egg yellow lycra to show the tonal difference. The surface is semi matte. 3m by 1.5 $5
Crepe di chine fabric. 115cm wide by 2m long. Printed flowers on navy background $5
Silver jumbo spandex (very firm stretch across the fabric looser the length of the fabric- very supportive). 1m wide by 3m long not metallic but extremely shiny $5
Claimed, not yet paid for:
In process of shipping:
Paid for and sent:
- Spoiler:
6m green velveteen. Standard 115cm wide been washed and dried to make the pile nice and lush. $15 Sheer pink saree with self stripe and printed flower pattern. Same the total length and again about 5.5m. Intended to be made into a Victorian gown but I have sheer cotton instead ;) $5 Semi sheer maroon saree. Same pattern all the way from end to end (just the borders) this one is closer to 5.5m. Not as sheer in real life as in the photo but we do know that flash photos happen anywhere ;) $5 Pink and blue saree. Pink with blue border, woven swirl pattern. Pallu all blue and floral and the blouse fabric is still on the end. $5 Black velvet bodice $15 stretch panne velvet (but a nice one) lined in a heavy nylon knit to give is support but still stretch. Can be worn with the skirt of the Victorian dress above and I can knock off $5 if you want both. Victorian skirt. All edges zigzagged but not hemmed so it can be sized to fit. I did have the rest of the fabric but it was from spotlight so might be easy to find again. Red satin brocade. Duchess weight satin so even with flash it has a subtle sheen. $5 Justacorps: $30 Aka a priate coat. Green velveteen lined in cotton. Skirts lined in a shot rough taffeta (man made mystery fibres). Hooks missing but I can supply replacements. The eyes are still there. 1X flat half mannequins. Very good for either cutting into armour or for molding on. I have two clear vinyl ones as well but they need a clean. $5 each. Boots. I was going to use them for a costume but never did. Size 7 multiple so about 37 Euro. $5 Not worn except ti try on. Great for modification. Silk saree, dark blue and patterned, about half and half. When worn the blue makes the skirt then the pleated front is patterned then blue draped around and over the shoulder to the pallu which is patterned again. $5 Will post very very easily as the weight is like a habotai/China silk. assume 4.5m but I think it is a little longer. Half torso. Yep she's extremely exaggerated but with foam and a cover she will make a great and light dress form for someone. You can either use padding or get some expanding foam from the hardware store and fill in the gaps. $5 Victorian skirt. Has been hemmed (double turn and machine stitched so can be let up or down easily). Waistband with large hook to close. Lots of pleats so the waist can be altered easily too. $5 Sheer crimson and patterned saree. Usual 4.5m length. $5
I'll be adding more (after a reply or 7 days so as to not break the rules) as I have about 1.5m3 of stuff that I would like to shift ;) Prices are so that they clear out quickly not an indication of quality. I have projects I need the space for.

Re: [seller] Fabrics and costume pieces and mannequins- cheap! By neimhaille. 20/08/10, 11:08 am |
| Those prices are per item for them all :)
Right: Tails, half mannequin is yours :) Do you have someone who can pick it up for you? Or if you are coming to AuckGeddon i can keep it aside until then :)
Mandie Chan: Price per item, so that would be $20 for the saree and velveteen plus shipping :) Not sure how much but I think it will all fit in one of the larger flat plastic bags at the post office :)
u_ne_korn: I think I have a few more about the place and as above they are only $5 a piece not per metre :)
Tammy: Other flat mannequin is yours :) I live Centre-West and I can really easily get to say New Lynn for an easy pick up point :) Send me a PM about when and where to meet :)
Number -IX: Half torso is yours :) Yep she's "normal" sized in terms of height and at least neck circumference ;) The material is hollow plastic like a doll so it really is extremely light and easily cut to allow for arms and a better stand (there is a small hole at the bottom but it may need to be larger to get a decent stand sorted).
Thornback: the blue saree hasn't had any claims so feel free to pencil it in. I think it'll be a couple of dollars to post as it will probably fit into an A4 sized envelope.
Now to update the list with claims :)

These boots - I vary between a size 7 and 8, so I'm not sure if these will fit me or not - would you be able to measure the length of the soles for me please? Size uncertainty aside, they're almost exactly what I'm looking for. |

Re: [seller] Fabrics and costume pieces and mannequins- cheap! By neimhaille. 09/09/10, 04:13 pm |
| JVCA: I'll do so tomorrow, sorry I didn't see this sooner :)
Rena: Either or :) The bodice skims at the waist on me (about 1.5cm below the waist I suppose) and then dips further in front and back. So the skirts will both be fine :) The red skirt has not had the waist finished so you can pleat it to what ever shape (I just put pleats right at the back but they can be even all around or from the side to the back) The white skirt has had a waistband and hook put in but it is easy to undo and the pleats at the back are pretty deep so again you can move them around if you like. The white skirt is straighter than the red skirt so the hem is not as full.
fleyer: yep :) One of the half mannequins is available :) I also have the two clear vinyl ones (which can be shaped though they buckle a bit with a heat gun). They are covered in resin bits so I'll see how well they clean up.
And I may have a sewing machine. Well I do. It's a Cascade, I bought it for $200 from the Warehouse several years ago but it has had little use due to the fact that it smokes at you from somewhere inside. I think it's just an excess of oil but it could be parts rubbing together too much. Does nice stitches though. I just fixed my lovely Janome so I'll have a look inside and see if I can figure out if it is okay or not. If not it's going to be donated to get fixed and used in a developing country somewhere.
