SPCC - Games/Arcade night - expressions of interest By jpwise. 18/07/10, 07:27 am |
| The SPCC has started planning for a Halloween night event in Wellington.
The last games fund-raising event we did was for the WCB was held at St Andrews church in Wellington, and by all accounts everyone had a blast. This time round we're looking at the option of using a commercial games company - ie: Timezone Arcade.
I know some of you are into your arcade games and play quite regularly anyway, but quite a few others wouldn't usually go except when there's an event like this - so here you go!
Currently gauging expressions of interest as there are minimum numbers required to make it happen.
Please fill in the poll and let us know if this is something you'd like to see happen.
OK. Update 18-Aug-2010!
Free play on yellow swipecard machines only. 1 hr free play - $15 public, $13 current SPCC members - includes $10 credit for use on any machine 2 hr free play - $25 public, $23 current SPCC members - includes $20 credit for use on any machine
Cards issued for the deal are their cheapie ?paper? ones. Deal can't be applied to existing TimeZone cards, but if you have any credit left at the end of the night you keep the card and can come back later to use it up.
We haven't set a date yet, so if you've got a particular date in mind (i know a few people mentioned mocks coming up? in the other thread), so let us know and we'll make it happen.
Suggested prices at the moment are : $15 for current SPCC members. $20 for general public
The ticket gets you 2 hours unlimited play on most machines, and $5 credit towards play on the premium machines. I don't have a list of the premium machines yet, but from what I can tell it's probably any of the machines with blue swipecard readers. Red & Yellow should be included in the 2hr free games.
Edit: feel free to discuss and if you're interested please say so (and fill in the poll ). thx.

| Yep, the halloween thing will be a week after geddon. The games night though is a fundraiser FOR the halloween party - so it will be much sooner! And success pending, may be a recurring event :) |

Timezone is just the arcade on Manners. One with Lazertag is LazerForce. I hear they've moved up near the Warehouse. |

| I don't really like going to Timezone huge amounts xD. It always ends up with everyone standing around the dancing machine watching, which bores me a little.

Couldn't help but notice "Timezone Arcade" so I decided I'd throw in $20 towards the event for some good times.
Count me in for some DDR/ITG beasting. |

... Unless someone's willing to play air hockey with me endlessly 8DDDDD lol, yeah, thats why i think the unlimited play on the other machines could be good. rather than standing around, you can just randomly pick a game to try without feeling like it's a waste of money..
i'm still waiting for a reply back from them at the moment (emailed earlier in the week), will have to send them a followup at this rate, but will update you guys once i have further news. ;) |

I could probably make my way down there tomorrow and have a discussion with them about the whole situation if that'd be easier...? I spend enough time there as it is... |

Re: SPCC - Games/Arcade night - expressions of interest By jpwise. 22/07/10, 04:40 pm |
| @Zephyr - no idea, not intending on booking it out completely tho, it's just a deal they have for groups/fundraising.
@Ninja-Lemming - up to you, it's basically a fundraising thing they have listed on their website, the fundraising organisation buys tickets at a fixed price conditional on a certain number of tickets purchased and then onsells them to make a couple of dollars on each ticket. Thats where the minimum numbers required comes in. If you know them pretty well, welcome to sound them out, i flicked the email to the tzmanners address a few days ago, but i don't know if they check it on a regular basis or not. |

Re: SPCC - Games/Arcade night - expressions of interest By jpwise. 11/08/10, 07:24 am |
| OK, sounds like the information we had wasn't completely up to date, after 2 emails and no reply, I've just given the manager a ring. The packages changed.. :/ It's just yellow machines on the free play, and may only be 1hr, not 2.
I'm getting more information from them now, and clarifying the prices with them. Will update everyone once we've firmed things up. :)
