SPCC - Posing/Modelling workshop - expressions of interest!

Hello everyone! One of the ideas for an SPCC workshop we've had is to hold a how-to on basic posing and modelling for photos. A lot of people - myself included...there is a reason I like to be BEHIND the camera! - have trouble thinking of poses, using lighting to their advantage, working the camera, etc. What we'd like to do is to bring in a professional (probably an acting/modelling/dance tutor) to go over the basics, and then maybe have a little photoshoot at the end of the session to show off what we've learned!

Some of the things we thought wold be good to cover include:

- Basic full-body posing - how to stand so the camera sees your best side!
- "Mood" posing - cute, sexy, sad, angry, tense, etc.
- Relaxation exercises - how to get rid of jaw tension, how to smile without looking like a complete derp (I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS ONE), how to relax your shoulders/neck.
- Fighter poses - basic, yet awesome looking martial arts poses, that don't injure you and show your body off to its best advantage.
- I AM SURE YOU GUYS CAN THINK OF MORE.

So! Throw in some suggestions - what would you like to see covered in a session like this? Are you interested, or is this a terrible idea? What we can do will be determined by who we can get to teach us, as will the price. We would probably make it a half day event (four hours), possibly a full day (six-eight hours), so the price per person would almost certainly be a minimum of $20, but we can't confirm that yet! :)

As with all other SPCC workshops, all funds go to making us bigger and better and more fabulous, and to achieve more in the name of cosplay in NZ. Members will pay less than non-members, too! So tell us what you think, and we'll work on making it all happen ;)

though I feel like this would be something like a panel that goes for about 2 hours during a con, but thats me and my limited thinking. Maybe add in a acting/skit & make-up tutorial while we're still on the non-sewing side of cosplay..?
but definitely an awesome idea!

INTERESTED! I always feel a little awkward in front of the camera despite wanting good pictures of my costumes XD
Would definitely jump on a bus down to Welly if I could come.

If it all goes well, I would like to look at doing it around the country :) Auckland I suspect would be a bit more pricey, but we'd have access to a lot more pros for teaching!

Icarus: Yeah, the two hours I think would be a bit of a stretch. I'd like to have people actually doing stuff, rather than just sit and be talked at? So as far as time goes, I don't know if we'd have time to do makeup as well. BUT that is something I at least would absolutely love to do! Maybe for a separate event where we get to try it out on each other and get the hang of actually doing makeup? :) Same for skits - that would be fun to do as a get-up-and-perform-for-the-lulz thing too! Very Happy
