Agh, if it isn't bad enough that the media likes to poke fun at pulp culture already, there's some guy in the comments calling cosplayers the problem of this country. It is sad to see the intolerance here, but at least there is someone else who disagrees with him.

pretty much everyone did. i find it laughable that he thought he could say that, with the alcoholism and domestic violence that plagues nz. sure, they're no problem at all!

I take umbridge with the "Freaks and Geeks" part.

geek i can handle. geek is a term with many meanings that do apply to the many attendees of Geddon. Freak is simply an insult.

I didn't like that either. They could have said 'Geeks and Nerds' or 'Geeks and Gamers' but no, freaks. I didn't want to make a point of it as I thought I was just being too picky about things but now that you guys have, I feel I'm not being silly.

I am getting so sick of reports 'reporting' about Armageddon. A few of them come from the 'cool' TV channels and only go to make fun of us. Like, I remember one last year or the year before. It was aaawwwfuuul ;__;

I want a reporter to do an article on how we're NOT freaks. (Quick, someone become a reporter!)

Lol'ing forever. This stuff really annoys me as well. I did an interview a week or so ago that was emailed through from a journalism student, and some of his questions really set my teeth on edge. They weren't overtly rude, they just implied that the person being asked wasn't normal. Douche. I got a bit defensive in the end, couldn't help it.

I think that the trolls were pretty weak.

I did like the personal touch to the article. However it was too short, probably her editor said I need a article on this, max 300 words? Not like it was something important. It sounded like she popped in and talked to the first three or so costumed people she could find, and left before she really saw or understood much about Geddon. I mean like cosplay is a big part of it, but then most people are not there for that at all.

It does tell parts of the odd persons personal stories.
It does not inform anyone what Armageddon is about.

I wonder if "freaks and geeks" is a subtle reference to the cult TV show series back in 1998, consider it's about fringe pop cultures and all.

Also I was totally going to make an awesomely unfunny memegenerator meme making fun of the person who insisted that cosplayers are the problem of the country, pity that memegenerator is down for the entire day.

I think it is odd how it seems so acceptable for the media to call people who attend Armageddon freaks and geeks, and then flip onto the next story about how awful bullying is. Pot calling kettle black?
