| Today was going to be "Bodice Cutting Day" but its just too damn hot!! I bought some grey Suede to make Arwen's Chase Outfit to match Gil-Galad's Sword that I own (For those not in the know, Gil-Galad was the Original wielder of the sword we see both Elrond and Arwen use in Lord of the Rings, and the Subject of my Favourite Poem from the Book ) I got just enough to make the Bodice though, so I shall make that tomorrow...and pictures will be along shortly afterwards |

| @Sakura Petals- A Bernina Activa! I'm green with jealousy. My Mum has one and it's a pleasure to use
@Victorian Couture- That looks fantastic! I'm a fan of your work and I can't wait to see what you come up with.
@JVCA OMG that is stunning, so class!
Trim done! - also setacolour seems to be indistinguishable from cheap acrylic (unless you wash it I guesss

| Mischa - thanks, it only cost me $1500, which is great! I've only tried it in the shop so it's good to know that it's a good brand/machine to use.
Tonight I'll hopefully get at least the gold glitter around the sides of the heart brooch. Tomorrow I'll have to go get some foam board for my crescent moon brooch as mum accidentally threw out the left over bits I had from my Sakura Staff. Yet more things I have to buy... |

| I made horns 8D. It was great fun. Might post a pic later. Made with a tin foil base and then covered in papermagiclay and two bits of wire at the base of each so I can somehow attach them to my head xD
Edit: Photos~
- Spoiler:
You can't really see the shape properly in these photos xP. Still need to sandpaper them and paint them (:

| Spent all day drawing up my skirt pattern and cutting out the pattern for the bodice. I didn't expect it to take this long to get to the sewing part. >___> Tomorrow is my MASSIVE SPOTLIGHT SHOPPING SPREE at which point I hope to buy everything I need to finish Eve in one go. Yay. |

Bernina is suppose to the best of the domestic machines. It's why its the most costly. Lucie's Bernetta was sweet. If I ever replace my Janome I will get a Bernina. And like only $1500. O_O!!!! I really would like one of the programmable embroidery ones though. Those start at close to $1600 I think? Of course I am probably spending close to that on this one Cosplay. But after that? Hopefully never again.

| An embroidery machine would cost you about $4000 + (if you want one that can up scale designs and create your own then more than that).
Progress: I've glued on the the gold glitter around the edge on my heart brooch, made the 'feathers' out of fimo and painted them with iridescent pearl paint - which matches the pearls I got earlier by complete coincidence! :) Tomorrow I'll cut the card they all sit on and glue everything together which means that the heart brooch will be done!!! Yippee!! I'll post progress pics tomorrow for you all.
Pics:
Just needs a few more things added then it's done!!
Just needs to be attached together, gems glued on and waiting for the star gems to arrive from Australia.
The start of my crescent moon brooch.
With these almost done my accessories will be done. Then on to the sewing. |

| I finished my crescent moon brooch!! I'll get photos of it tomorrow - the light isn't good enough at the moment to get a good photo. I also thought I'd finished my earrings but discovered that they were way too big.... in the process though, I discovered that my drawings of all the accessories were almost drawn to scale without me realising!! It's kind of spooky... |

| I've done Beatrice's hoop shirt, but cause I'm a retarded loser, I screwed up and have to unpick 3 of the hoops and re-sew the base. But better than unpicking all 7 hoops 8D;;
tiny progress for the day
- Spoiler:
took apart this ^ necklace and re-wired all the tiny black beads together for Grell's glasses
- Spoiler:
hurrrrr, when I first got my glasses I picked red frames because of Grell, and now I'm finally making them official, haaaappy~~ (no wonder he doesn't wear his glasses properly, the strap weighs them down..) |

| you guys know the chillies are a part of my cosplay progress xDD and yes! Thank you Thornback for helping me with the skulls. They should be fine, I was just paranoid as usual 8D;;
I also bought 10cm high heels (excaliface) & re-bought new Grell fabric today, so I'm gonna be a 'couple of shades darker than usual' red type Grell. Which is actually pretty cool looking~ |

Re: General Progress By sakura_petals. 16/01/11, 12:35 pm |
| I've almost finished my Sera Myu! Eternal Sailor Moon heart brooch - I almost cut a slice off my left index finger cutting out the base for the brooch (stupid craft knife), so now this cosplay is officially blooded!! LOL. I've just got to glue the separate parts onto the base and glue the beads round the edge then I'm done!!
The crescent brooch is finished and part of the head band/odango sheilds/feather barrettes are done. Anne came round the other day and we proceeded to make mock ups of the leotard, so now the sewing part has began! Now to find crappy fabric to make mock up of my skirts to work out how much to order.

Re: General Progress By Guest. 18/01/11, 01:39 pm |
| Totally finished my 3rd Shoulder Piece today at work! I couldn't handle the heat (due to our Boss not turning on the AC all day, when the temp outside was in the HIGH 20s and the Bar was in the low 30s...) so my Manager gave me a Split instead of a straight through, so I was able to finish it
Now I just have one more to go before I can start the dress...and with 12 days to spare!

Re: General Progress By Rehtse. 18/01/11, 02:38 pm |
| @ sakura: That brooch looks amazing.
Well I'd say I'm pretty proud of how Eve is going, considering it's my first cosplay. I hope to have the dress all sewn up by tomorrow and I may even have time to redo the armwarmers (since I lost the other ones grrrr) before the ACP ^_^
Also I changed the dress I'm doing from the sleeved one to the sleeveless version because a) it won't take as long to sew it, b) I've never done puffed sleeves before so I'd probably mess up anyway, c) it's the more popular version with her hair down and d) the fabric I'm using is already rather heavy and I don't want to die of heatstroke.

| My heart brooch is completely finished!! I just glued the final feather onto the base a few minutes ago!! Yippee!!! Now to make the earrings and the headband and the accessories will be done!! Then it's on to the sewing... which is the scary part.
EDIT: I just realised that the brooch is not quite done... I still have to put the silver beading round the edges of the feathers - I'll have to do that tomorrow after work. |
