help with an organization XIII coat! By johnnyboy. 04/04/10, 12:18 pm |
| Does anyone have a pattern for a organization XIII coat that i can copy and change to fit me? If not, do you have any helpful hints or tips to help me in making one. Eg. Fabric, Challenging cuts, previously unnoticed details?
and also am undecided as to what type of zip to put in as it would be a marluxia coat and i have seen diff size zips, also if i decided to get a large zip where would i go to get it?
Thanks |

| There are patterns somewhere within these, if you scroll down to 'Kingdom Hearts'. I haven't looked through all of them, though, so I don't know how useful they are, or if they have anything regarding your more specific questions...
Someone might be able to provide you with more insight, but it's a start? 8D |

| Leather is the main type of material to use for an org XIII coat but leather is quite hard to sew ( well i think so) even more so if you are new to sewing. to get a zip theres spotlight. im not quite sure how big you want your zip to be but if can't find any from a physical shop try online.

| Here you go http://www.cosplay.com/showthread.php?t=117394. Shows you how to edit a pattern into the organization coat.
You can buy the massive zips here. http://orgxiii.org/zippers/organization13coats.html. You can get smaller ones from Spotlight and just buy them in a roll, which is quite cool as you can say exactly how much you need, though they break really really easily. They also sell massive zips somewhere near Kirks, if you're based in the Wellington region.
As for pleather, keep your eyes pealed. I got my (fabulous) pleather from Arthur Toye, it was called "imitation leather" if you ask for it. Never seen it at spotlight though. I reckon you could get some off trademe, but it's hard to ascertain if it's exactly what you're looking for. |

| Cassiel's massive zips link is awesome - the zips are great! BUT the shipping is ridiculous. Like, the same price as the zip, if not more. :S |

| Myself, Tsunami-chan and several others are planning a sort of "sew-meet" to make these coats, since so many friends of ours want them. We all suck at sewing too, so it will be fun. XD If you're in NCIS, perhaps you could join us. |

| The zips on their coats aren't actually massive... They're a little bigger than normal, but it seems to be more of a cosplay thing than an accurate to the character thing to have massive zips. Anyway my 2c is to not use vinyl or pleather. It seems to be what most people use but it looks a little weird. As far as patterns go, we heavily edited a Neo coat pattern from the warehouse, so if you have any experience editing patterns that works well, otherwise your best bet is to look it up online. We got all of our materials from spotlight and the 2 coats cost us about $50 each. Heres a link to what they looked like if your wondering what a non-pleather only $50 dollar in costs organization coat looks like. http://regnieriku.deviantart.com/art/ID-143513577 Sorry it's not the best pic in terms of seeing the whole coat but it gives you a feel of what the material looks like. |

It's interfaced to make it more coat-like but I didn't really like the look of pleather so we went completely unconventionally and made them out of an actual fabric. They're super comfy though ;) |
