Cheap as Chips shopping trip :)

Hey all,

I need to buy some lining fabrics and maybe some pretties and thought it might be a great opportunity to meet up with peeps and give away the locations of my two fave shopping places ;) Seriously I buy rolls of fabric as they are so cheap, and have been known to buy them out of other things...

So Saturday 5th June, midday Nick's Fabrics on Dominion Rd.

From there a trip around the block past the second hand store (shoes and boots great for costuming) the Hammer Hardware to maybe get some mold or prop making supplies, and across the road to Geoff's Emporium. I still find this the best Emporium around Auckland, though the one in Brown's Bay comes close ;) There is also an antique shop that occasionally sells things like Victorian era sunglasses.

There are a few places to eat and drink and I think group consensus works for what to choose. There is a small sushi place, a Vegetarian cafe, a regular couple of cafe's, a place to get bubble tea (nom! and it takes us past the Bernina store). There is also the Claire Inn which may be not ideal as it is a pub- no idea about guardians being needed for under 18s etc.

So if anyone wants to come you can let me know here or just show up if you are not sure until the day :)

I'm hoping to give ideas on how to determine fabric from the things you can do in store. So no burn, acid or bleach testing ;)

I know the place since I used to live there. As for Clare's Pub,as long as alcohol isn't ordered or consumed it should be fine (went there before I became legal)

But I'm totally there as long as nothing crops up 83

I've looked up Maxx, seems like I'll need to do a bus transfer at Newmarket or Britomart. Can anyone offer to pick me up at Newmarket/Britomart? Very Happy

Maybe we'll have a bunch of people who'll need transport too... orz

Wow! I didn't expect so many replies :)

Yep I'll be bussing in too, luckily there are really regular buses even on the weekend into the city and from there you can get pretty much anywhere :) But carpooling is love for those who have that option :)

Yep :) If we aren't in Nick's fabrics we'll be across the road in Geoff's emporium :) Trust me it is possible to spend a few hours in that place and not notice ;)
