I wouldn't be allowed to travel to something like this. Traveling to a geddon or for a birthday is one thing but traveling for a dinner is another ^^''

Well... if its a success Im thinking of doing the same scenario at other regions too- so I will have to swear the participants to secrecy.

But because the dinners will be part of a running storyline, each connected but slightly different- there will be stakes involved... no double ups of characters, and if you're character is killed at the dinner, that character can not be cosplayed at any of the other ones etc.

@Tails: Nope, you can pick your own character.

This is generally the way I want to work it (thought it might change a little as Im still working through it).

First I'll confirm the date and venue.Then I'll post this info and the opening Scenario in a new thread.

People who can make it and want to come, will then fill out a character sheet that
I'll post up, and PM it to me, e.g.
1.What's your character's name, description and origin (anime/manga/game/other),
2.What is the reason your character is attending the dinner
3 Is there anything your character feels particularly strong about, like/dislike

Then when I have a compiled list, (and people have paid their entry fee) I'll send out invitations with secondary objectives, and rules.

E.G.
Scenario: The Opening Ceremony Dinner before the Start of the Iron Fist Tournament.

Character Sheet (written by you):
1.Sebastian Michaelis, butler to the phantomhive household, secretly a demon with supernatural powers. Originates from the Anime/Manga Kuroshitsuji.
2. Attending the Dinner in order to track down an assassin believed to have been hired to kill his master, the assassin is rumoured to be a fighter in the upcoming tournament. Will be disguised as a servant at the Dinner.
3. Dislikes angels and incompetant servants.

Secondary Objective sheet (written by me):
1. You have received information that the assassin you seek has a tattoo on the inside of their left thigh. You must discover the identity of the assassin and if you are able to isolate them into a room by themselves, with no witnesses present for 3 minutes, then you have met the requirements to have them killed. Please hand them this objective card as proof that they are to be killed.
If these requirements are not met by the end of the night, then the assassin will have escaped.
2. You have also received information that a Demon slayer with a very large sword may also be present. If he manages to fulfill a set of predetermined criteria, then he/she will be able to have you killed, and will hand you their objective card as proof the requiements have been met.

Ofcourse the primary objective is to solve the main muder- and there will be a reason why you all have to. And then not all objectives will have to do with murder. But note all characters are able to be killed at the dinner, and if that happens, then that character is not allowed to appear again at any other of my murder mystery dinners. So yeah... there are high stakes.

Oh yeah, anyone can die... but there is a resurrection clause.... which I'm still working on, and certain things you can use to protect you from being killed... again still working on it.

And ofcourse, no one is allowed to die until the Main murder is done. Don't want anyone upstaging the main plot!

If our character dies, can we come to the next dinner as another character? Or will the dinners just keep getting smaller with people dying?

Yes... the character dies, but you can come as someone else. That way, if you're able to, you can make all the dinners. Though it will probably be pretty tough, as I'll most likely make the next one in ChCh or Dunedin- closer to where I am in Invercargill.

[ADDIT] Ofcourse, once I get this done, I can easily hand over my set up equipment to an NCIS member to continue on with it if you want, and just help out online with storyline and plot.

P.S. I want to videotape the whole thing so I can use it for future reference... and tie it in to the next dinner as well.

Just spent 2 hours on the storyline... hope it's not too complex. Difficult planning for every eventuality, but it's going to be "open" format, so everyone decides what they want to do.

im definatly in especially after chatting with TinTango at NZAE about this. so even though im in hamilton, if i get enough warning and its on a weekend i may be able to travel down, cos it would be really cool to have an NCIS event with cosplayers from all over NCIS region

Two days until the thread goes live, Im frantically trying to prep everything beforehand...
had a lightbulb moment yesterday, and have sorted out the backstory.
Just got to bring the characters to life now.... 15 chest compressions, one breath, 15 compressions, "breathe Darnit!"
