Hi guys, just thought there are a lot of activities going on in other regions, but not so much in NCIS. So I just wondered how many people are actually in NCIS?

. Christchurch seem to be good at doing them and incorporating it into parties, but I wanted to try someplace smaller for my first go.

I've already got a good concept/theme, and most of the idea setup.
But I'm gonna take some time off in the next few months, and come up to Palmy for a look around, scope out some venues.

Hastings... interesting, never been there either. Will broaden my search a bit more, but if it comes to attendance numbers, I might have to make it Palmy just for accessibility.

Basically Im looking for a reasonable venue which can fit about 15ppl, as if they were going to a small conference/presentation dinner. Only for about 4-5hrs.
So tables arranged with people facing the front, but able to have a catered dinner.
A front table where a main presenter will be, facilities for a powerpoint
presentation- preferably a slideshow projector with a large screen, and sound
capabilites (i.e. so I can show vids from my laptop and have the sounds projected as well) as well as a main microphone.

It may be a bit pricey, but I'm looking at Hotel Coachman, the Kingsgate and Bentley's Motor Inn. Once I get a quote from them, I'll see what kind of figures we're looking at. Then I'll get on with the funds.

By the way... how much would you be willing to pay for such an event- say it was at one of those hotels-including the dinner?

I just took a look at the venue pricing at Hotel Coachman, $20-$30 per person would probably only pay for the venue itself, excluding food etc. Cosplay fundraising, anyone? 8D

Where I work, we have an up stairs area that would suit that, unsure bout the Tables though, as it used to be a Night club, but it has the Art Deco feel... Very Happy

It has a Balcony, as well as an outside sitting area. The sound-proof-ness of it all is in Question though, as I have not been up there while it was busy...lol
It can fit more than 15ppl, as like I said, it used to be a Night Club ;D It has a Stage and a Bar, though none of the Beer Taps work sad

Easy access to the Bar and restaurant below and you are able to order before you go up and have all the meals come up at once instead of having to wait for each one Very Happy

Set Menus are sorted, at about $25 each for 3 courses(ubercheap), and drinks can be supplied in Jugs and R18-ners can go down stairs to get Alcohol, if they want to.

And, since I work there I can get you guys deals on the dinners maybe...I will have a look tomorrow if I go into work...still sick...lol

Also, there are cheap ass hotels just down the road, as in $18 an night cheap Very Happy

Actually... I think I've found the perfect venue... in Palmy. Let me e-mail them and see what kind of response I get.

And then, time to sort out some dates, including some reconnaisance.

By the way, how dark does it get in palmy at say 4pm, 5pm and 6pm?

At this stage though I want to get a good number of ppl attending, and Palmy seems good.

Anyway, I think I've found out what I wanted for now. Once I've talked prices, I'll set a date, and start a new thread. Thanks for your help, please stay tuned.

There's actually quite a lot of us in Hamilton, but (most) of us are still newbies, and (nearly) all of us are underage with *cough* protective parents. So, travelling to Palmy is a no-no for most of us. I myself could probably manage to make it, but I don't wanna go by meself. D:

Yeah, there are about 10 or so cosplayers in Hamilton, but most are still at high school. There may be a few more, tbh.

That's always the problem with trying to get all of NCIS to meet up - it's never considered/planned because the Palmy people would want it to be in Palmy and the Hamilton people can't GET to Palmy, or vice versa.

NCIS covers a huge area, which means that it's even harder. It's not like Auckland, with public transport everywhere. So the fact that we have two big groups and several little ones is very unhelpful.
