Woot! So I'll start cutting 20X25 tomorrow :) I just put the baggie of fabric away for room to do stuff :)

This is very sheer so it will need backing but it will give us all the same texture on the outside so for photos we'll all look very uniform.
Hey, I need to make a full body out of this so no tunic and leggings for me, going to have to make a body out of foam too ;) Thank goodness for overlockers....

@Neimhaille: Is it still possible to see through if it's double layered like the tricot Lucy used? Otherwise we could just use a white fusible interfacing on the back to block it out a bit, couldn't we? Very Happy

@jess; i bought a meter to cover marcy's head (1/2 a meter of orange and 1/2 of green) though counting the dinner plates to cover too i'd suggest maybe 1.5m?

@Christchurch Katamari Cousins - I just bought 2 foam matresses on TM for $10 - I am not 100% sure they are the right size (I will edit this post when I pick them up and find out) but they are the right price! If 3 people want $2.50 foam then PM me and I will hook you up

@Thread: For our smocks, what are we gunna go at the end? Make seperate mittens or attach them? Or make the fingers bit of the mittens do up with velcro so we can get our hands free? (I would suggest seperate or velcro, so we don't have to take the whole smock off when we need our hands)

i was gonna velcro mine on. :9 the mittens should be the ones with the part for the thumb and then the bit that holds the rest of the fingers... /DUMB

Yeah, I thought they should be like that with the thumb thing too. Are you gunna make them so they have to velcro on entirely, or so they're gunna be sewed on on one side and velcro on on the other? (I tried to do a crappy paint drawing of what I mean but it failed dismally, so I hope that makes sense!)

Just bought this for me, Greg and Alex to use. It's half a cm thinner, but I'm sure that won't really make a difference. Man, Alex's head has to be 22" tall and 20" wide or something. @_@

1) did we finalize a length?
2) in above image they have a funky hem thing to help give it shape, are we doing that?
3) did I read somewhere we can make glove things? (so we can take them off am use our hands)
4) does it matter what we do with shoes/feet covering things? Just so long as its the right colour?

1) Presuming you mean the smocks - just 'mid-thigh', nothing more concrete than that.
2) I think we should! Very Happy

Do we wanna use plastic piping or something (rope? Piping has cord in it...), or just stuffing/batting?
3) See the last few posts between me and Lucy; plan is to make the sleeves end in mittens that are attached on one side, but velcro on on the other side so we can use our hands when needed.
4) I don't really think so. Maybe ballet flats or jandals or slippers? I bought slippers for mine (which suit coz Daisy's feet are poofy cuz they're... Udders.), but we haven't bought anything for Alex yet.

Are flat bottomed shoes in the appropriate colour ok too? I have some ballet flats but these are more comfortable for me. They look like these.

Really, I think anything in the right colour (so long as they're not high heels) would be fine.

Except for me as I am making an entire costume out of the mesh, oh help. It just makes it really clear Lalala is starkers ;)

And I just looked through the front page, I'll do 30 of these squares and then a few larger (30X30cm) for the odd shaped faces :) I think I can get 16 per m.
