| I had an awesome time, even if I was only there for a while~ It was great to meet you all
About the turnout, I was talking to one of the lovely Wellingtonians yesterday, and she didn't have any idea about it when I mentioned it. So I guess that could have been an issue? |

| @Kylie: The irony is that it probably would have been worse in terms of attendance had it been held in Auckland.
@Mischa: Not being in Wellington, this is probably not relevant of me to say, but a major issue I've observed with Auck events is transport. People bail (including myself) because it's too much effort to get there. ...not having the slightest clue where anything in Wellington is myself, I honestly don't know whether or not your location was convenient or had lots of public transport available or what, but I just figured I'd put my observations down for you. |

| @ Rocky and JVCA - this is all useful , thanks for the feedback!
It was held in an art school/gallery just off Cuba Street, so it was a little obscure- about 12 mins walk from the nearest bus stop.
(Rocky - I scored some of that black dotted fabric you brought :) it's beautiful!) |

| Glad to know it went to a good home :)
I think it was in a good location - I mean, I managed to find it and I didn't even know where Cuba Street was until this weekend. It could have been better signposted, I guess, unless you added more after I arrived? But yeah, a sign further out on the street may have helped. I wouldn't have found it so quickly if I hadn't spotted Gir xD |

| @Mischa: Yeah, for me I get totally panicked about taking buses to places I've never been to, or if I have to change buses halfway through, so that may have been a factor for some people. (Though I'll admit that wouldn't have stopped me in this instance, but that's because I have way too much fabric lust to miss something like this) |

| Yup, thanks for the feedback, guys, it really does help out.
Thing I wonder is, how do we get the message out to more of the locals down here - most of all the ones in this community themselves. We've posted on the forums. I tried spreading the word on twitter (though I could have done that better), there was a post in the paper too.
Locations can be a hard thing, most of all on a budget. Anything central city can be very costly, and yet you need one with a decent layout and tables and such handy too. X3 Doing a fabric swap in the grass in Frankitts park isn't the best of things, after all. :)
Maybe not many people actually read the general Wellington thread? X3
We're also considering a ball fundraiser cosplay picnic within a few weeks (BYBO food, but we'll plan it and events). Might as well make use of the weather while it's still nice out. :3 |

| Did you guys advertise on dA? Again, I'm not really the authority on this, but my observations have seen that the wellyfolks are more on dA than they are on here at least... I know you said you did LJ, but did you make a post on the WCP LJ comm? IIRC, there are quite a few people who watch that comm... |

| I had a great time! Those stilts are awesome, thank you for the loan of pants Kelly! (I showed up in a wrap-around skirt, which is less than ideal for stilts, and demanded she trade with me ). Also, I'm now in whole-body pain, and I wonder if it because of the stilts? I didn't get them properly adjusted and couldn't stand up properly. But I wasn't in them for very long!
The thing with the facebook advertising is that although there is a lot of it, it's not really standing out. Most of what I see on facebook about SPCC things comes from Gemma posting links. Thats a great way of telling people who a) are facebookfriends with Gemma and b) reading all the updates properly. But they way they're being done is not terribly noticable. People in skim mode are just not likely to see it (I had 300 status updates when I logged on after being away for less than 48 hours!)
What would probably help there is if someone whipped up a facebook profile for the SPCC, with the logo and everything, and got everyone to be a fan. That way, the SPCC can put out announcements which will stand out a bit better than a link. The SPCC profile could send out messages (like Armageddon is doing at the moment!) which will also stand out a lot more.
We talked on Sunday about maybe putting these sorts of things in the announcements forum here, instead of in the Wellington threads - while I think that could help people notice it's happening, it's still only gonna get people who are paying attention. Which is something people don't do!
I think the location was awesome. If you had too much stuff to walk down from the bus-stop, you probably had too much stuff to be on a bus in the first place, so I doubt that was an issue. I know Cuba has a rough reputation, but in the daytime its a perfectly lovely place. I should try harder to find out who I need to talk to about using the Church Hall here at the Kelburn shops. It's a lovely size, has parking, doesn't have the reputation issues that Cuba does and is really easy to find. (Up the cable-car, follow Upland Road until you find it, or any of about six different buses.) I know it has tables and stuff as well, and I know they rent it out, because there are ballet lessons nearly every night. |
