I shall check dates from aug -> sep on the sat if you would like and let you know which ones are free ^_^

What time are you thinking of having the ball?
So I can give them a rough estimate of times we want~

And times.... probably start setting up at 5-5.30pm and people start arriving at 6.30pm and then go till about 11 again ^^

The time I said was more for the other people who are helping with decorations and such ^^

i'll let people know if/how much extra help i'll need closer to the time when i have my lighting plan sorted and audio sorted the extra time Madam M refers to allows me time to fix it if something goes wrong and get changed in time to start please note the closer to the shortest day of the year it is the better other wise i cant focus the lights and the whole thing will fail
having said that its gonna be awesome anyways.

It's a dance. There are coloured lights. It has to be dark to get the full effect of the lights. So unless you start the dance after 10pm, then it can't be done during summer. Besides you get hot dancing, so winter is better.

Last year was good as it was at the start of August so it was dark fast and when you got really hot from dancing people could go outside and cool down ^^

I'll have to wait to get the free weekends from Mandie and then try and figure it all out ^^

It's an issue because the lounge where we're having the ball has lots of windows. If there were no windows it'd be less of a problem. :3

for the information of anyone who wants to know there are 1.5m panes of glass the entire length of the venue that face wwnw I.e directly at late afternoon/evening sun these windows have no curtains and there is no way to cover them without the addition of blackout drapes wich would take hours and a lot of money to do therefore untill the sunsets there is lighting streaming in through said windows reflecting off the pitched ceiling and illuminating the room to an extraordinary degree. therefore any and all hired lighting is rendered useless. In order to attain an atmosphere in which people seem willing to dance it appears nessisary to alter the light away from natural ambience the psychology of this is slightly to convoluted to go into here but suffice it to say people just don't dance without flashy lights. the logical deduction from all this is. the less natural light the more people will dance and the better the atmosphere.

We have a date for the ball so I'm now changing this thread for music and photos people want at the ball.

As the theme is dark vs light I'm going to get some photos people request and stick them around the hall
