I need a leek. A big one.

Sooo...
I was thinking of using dowelling for a base structure, and then building up the shape with duct tape. This provides the problem, as the leek will then be bumpy. It was suggested that I use paperclay to go over the bumps or use it instead of duct tape in the first place.

I've never used paper clay and really have no freakin' idea what it looks like/ does/ how to use.

Any expansion or help would be greatly appreciated.

With paperclay, there's a great tutorial here: http://jiajem.com/armor.html

The problem with paperclay over duct tape is that the paperclay has nothing to adhere to - you'de need to use cloth tape, or paper mache; and paper mache I think would have trouble sticking to duct tape as well. You can get paperclay online from this place: http://zigzag.co.nz/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=polymer&Category_Code=A4A

Thanks JVCA, forgot we even had a props section
//fail.

And thanks everyone for your contributions. I was actually thinking about the duct-tape and decided it would be a bad idea, as it would be all squishy, which is not wanted.

Off to check that tutorial nows.

EDIT: After reading/lookingatpicturesof that tutorial, an idea struck me. Could I build up some of the shape using paper mache?
