Basque Grand's gauntlets from FMA. By Jandalman. 20/01/10, 10:08 am |
| Hi there folks, newbie here.
I've never cosplayed before so my current project is probably far more than I can chew...
Since my sowing skills are practically none (the last thing I've ever made with a sowing machine was a pillowcase at home tech. in primary!) I have decided to take the noob's way out and get my state alchemist uniform made by commision.
The gauntlets on the other hand would probably cost me a fortune to have someone make it for me so I'm gonna DIY.
So I'm asking the experienced folks here: does anybody have any ideas as how to make the metal platings? Please take note that I have no metal working skills either (and it'll cost $$$ anyway.) so using non metal materials...

Appreciate any help/advice given. |

| That's pretty simple, you can get plain black gloves and superglue/hot glue bits to it. The armour could easily be made from craft foam glue together, which would make it easy to carve in the words or symbols or whatever they are. And then you just spray paint the whole thing really... or you may need to seal the craft foam with a few layers of watered down pva glue.
I'd say overall using that it'd be a pretty cheap yet effective method |

| I would reccomend using pop-rivets to attach armour to the gloves; It'll save you making craft foam/plastic rivets and hold to the glove better (for obvious reasons) than glue. |

| Well you know there's always painting your hands black and super gluing them to that Which would be rather amusing 8D |

Ummm...what are pop-rivets? Perhaps I should look it up online. |

| https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=onVeVwat_tg That should give you a good idea. If your using material gloves (not leather(ish)), you can easily just push the rivet through the material. |
