Gaming/AMV/21st night

This is a day for AMV making (starting set up at 2pm), an evening of gaming (around 4-5pm onwards) and 21st celebration for Master Chaos.

(For gaming please bring your own consoles etcetc there will be pool there and a few other board games to ^_^ )

The AMV competition will be:
Given a song of my choice (MUAHAHAHA) and you must make an AMV to it
a possibly a 30min your choice AMV Sly

Awards for:
Best Over All
Best up and coming
Technical
Peoples choice award

WHAT to BRING:
-Laptop/computer. This includes mouse, keyboard, HEADSET, USB, A LABELED MULTIBOX, extension cord, surge protector (if you have 1), etcetc
-$2 fee will be applied for prizes and what not
-Bring your own Tea

WHEN & WHERE:
100 Chester Street East (behind Oxford Terrace Church)
30th May
2pm-9pm(ish -finishing sooner rather than later)

AMV info:
-there will be a list of around 8-10 songs, once the song is chosen you cant have it (sorry)
-that song must be in your amv for a reasonable amount (i believe in multi songs for an amv so if you like doing that then feel free to do so)
-AMVs should have credits including your name (or amv making name), the song(s) used and their artist etcetc
-Time limit will be 4 1/2 hours (INCLUDING SAVING TIME!) i will allow a little bit extra if saving is taking awhile but please dont go over by 2 much...
-um... must bring your own PC/laptop with your own anime on it. any anime/game(/tv/movie?) will be accepted.
-AMV must be made from scratch! I will want to look at your orginal file (in WMM or Vagas) to check =P

At the same time there will be a gaming night. Bring along consoles ~~board games~~ etcetc and help judge at the end of the night

Given that there're only about ten AMV makers in the CHCH community, it'd probably be best to just have one contest between us.

I think a good idea would be to give us all a song, then we all have to edit to that song, but with whichever show/game we want.

You can't reeeally give everyone one show we have to use, the way I see it, when you think about the fact that people who have seen the show and know what happens/where things happen would have a huge advantage against people who don't.

But if we just say 'here's a song, make something to it', then anyone can choose any show/game they think would work, and they can have confidence in knowing what clips pop up and where~ =D

Just my two cents.

as for the n00b people, it should be a pretty even boat coz not many people can make amvs in a small amount of time. well not decent 1s anyway lol

we can have 2 winners, 'best over all' and 'best up and coming'
that way for people like riven, pyro, madhatter? ectetc they can challenge themselves and others like you(rocky) and claire will still have a chance at getting something!

then again i TOTALLY believe in the 'bottom' people coming up top EBG

If we have already made a AMV already with the chosen song, are we able to enter that clip or do we have to start refreshed ??

Also thought maybe we could give the newbies a little practice before-hand so they have a little more of a advantage before heading in, like we could tell them how to cut clips, show them small techniques or just give a little idea on what to do before hand so they don't get lost or frustrated while the contest is going on for them. ^__^

k i just updated wthe 1st post, and will continue to do so (coz i really am coming up with it on the spot)
as to this question i think everyone needs to start afresh, no reusing old amvs etcetc

dont worry there will be a prize or everyone (well for each different 'level' of amv making)
so if someone has never made an AMV in their life, they may not win 'best over all' but they could win 'most improved'
make sense?

um as for people coming could you bring a PREMADE Amv (1 of the most recent 1s) and then i'll have an idea of abilties etcetc

i may point out good and bad bits (just as anyone else can) when it comes to voting but im not gonna critize coz my 1t amv was a doozy >_>;

I think we should maybe try and get some other cosplayers who aren't going to make any to join in, because with the small number of makers we have, it'd be a bit difficult to have people who could be contesting us to judge instead.

Plus, that way we get more of a mixed opinion-- non-makers often see AMVs on more of an entertainment basis, and can just say 'that was cool' rather than 'I rather appreciated the use of chroma keyer and HSL adjust to give a faded effect in the flashback sequence'.
