- My thoughts on costumes:
We want recognizable costumes (ie stuff from well known shows) in addition to costumes that will show off the skill of our members (ie impressive, loud and complex costumes). A balance between both would be best!
We don't want to many people that have no idea that we are mean to be dressing as a character from the Ghost in the Shell Dreamcast game, but at the same time we don't need to have everyone dressed from Bleach or Naruto either. A varied group would be excellent. Basically, if you either have a great costume that most people would recognize (Like Naruto, TMNT, Ash, Postman Pat) (and that someone else isn't cosplaying as), or a really amazing looking costume that people will notice and go "wow, that looks awesome, what is it from" then that would be perfect :)
Stuff that is obsure and doesnt stand out (like an "L" costume) would not convey the impression and impact i want ^^;
Members Taking part **Willuknight - Costume undecided **Jen - Kenshin or Haruhi ChibiTobi - Costume undecided **Mandie_Chan - Ash Ketchum Pyro - Beelzemon **Aura - Costume undecided **s-in-c - Costume undecided **LintuwolfWiing - Costume undecided sakura_petals - Costume undecided Riven - Alice in Wonderland Rocky - Costume undecided Claire - Costume undecided Lost_Angel2244 - Costume undecided Midsummer-snow Kelz Roodell + Friend Master Chaos Olithia RainbowMoonDust GrellTheRipperXD Ze Pervy Kappa Raven Echo Cyren - Haku (naruto) Steve Highlander - Zoro
** - helping with decorations If I've missed your name, my apologies just reply to this thread to put your name down. Please let us know what costumes you are going to dress up as so that we can eliminate doubleups
Still to be Organized: Music, decide on a playlist what decorations do we want to do for the truck signage / banners - with our website on anything extra, do we want to hand out flyers for the christchurch cosplay club?

| That... would be so cool.
Is it possible, though? Does it cost or anything? |

| It's no charge you just have to have a concrete concept and submit an application form well in advance.
I can email them for an application form.
Do we want to walk, or would we want to try and get a float? |

Re: Santa Parade By Guest. 04/06/09, 07:32 am |
| Don't know. The Santa Parade is usually aimed at children and the Cosplay Club is more for Teenagers and Young Adults. Think that Parents would feel awkward if their children joined a club that spoke online to supposed ''strangers''. And not really sure how Christchurch will feel if a group of young teens dressed up as Disney characters or random Japanese characters.
Then again on the other hand. It will be something different than Friggen Donald Duck breaking down every single Parade..
Don't know but just think that the Santa Parade isn't really the right audience we want to target towards. Sorry Will.

| i see what your saying there claire, and it is very valid. Why i would be doing this would be more to share our ability to cosplay with other people (kinda like the teddy bears picnic) its something where we could put a smile on a little kids face because he saw Ash and pikachu in the parade!
I wouldnt want any little kid (intermediate and younger) to join our club just because of the things some of our members are into.
but yea thats my 5 cents |

| I think it would be awesome!
But..But...Wouldn't most of the characters be licensed? With copy rights and all that? So we wouldn't be able to do Ash and stuff...
Just thought I should put that out there.

We could build one, just need a largish trailer, or a flatbed truck. Though the walk wouldn't be too bad, the christchurch santa parade is a pretty short route. We walk longer going from armageddon to get food and back.

If you think there isn't a massive high school student turn out, you would be sadly mistaken.
Parents aren't going to let their little kids join a club like this, and we wouldn't have them. Keep in mind though our club has had 13yr old members and given the right matruity they fit in well.
Christchurch has already been exposed to teens dressed as anime characters, multiple times from our club and from armageddon.

-Wiing I doubt most of the current floats use proper rights. Barbie is licenced and yet most santa parades have a float from barbie. It would come under the fair use clause and not for profit. |

like i know they have fairy tale stories and other 1s like that No you can't, I think, you have to build one. Which means a truck or similar.

** Thinks to Much ** But the floats are aimed at kids. Disney characters would fit well. However not many people are going to use five year old kids as models, cause they are not good models/actors, and cause they wander off, or fall off floats? Not that I have seen a ChCh santa parade. It is normal for teens or adults to provide the entertainment aimed at younger kids. And santa parade is about disney characters. Whatever we do would be better if it is seen as a contribution to the santa parade/ChCh community, (I don't know it will be great recruitment?), it uses well known characters, and it has a christmas theme? |

Re: Santa Parade By Willuknight. 19/06/09, 04:17 pm |
| I have talked to the parade organizers we can get the use of a 20ft truck for our club. I want to know who is interested and will probably be avaliable to take part in the CCC group for the santa parade. I'm currently finding out what options we have for decorations and signage, and once we find out that we can look at who would like to help with decorating the truck |
