2009 CNZ Cosplay Games

Planning for these is already well under way, but we're out to seek fresh new ideas! If you've got any suggestions, here is the place to shout them out. Smile

We're after nifty & outside-of-the-square cosplay related events to run at Auckgeddon 09. The sky's the limit here and I'm in discussions with Bill about a larger room as well. (Those of you who were at Chch saw how packed the room we had was!)

For those not in the know, the Cosplay Games have occurred at Chch 09 and Auck 08. Our repertoire includes extreme wig styling, Otaku Quizzes, skit performances, Q & A about cosplayers of the day and their outfits, geeky dance performances and advertisement & information of the Flashmobs that occur.

Obviously I've got a list at the moment, but I'm looking for fresh blood.

So yes: penny for your thoughts?

(Penny not included; your mileage may differ. Games can go up as well as down.)

If possible could we get the Sailor Moon Sera Myu Dance Group in there? (if I just go see if people still are keen) ^^'

Basically we can choose either Saturday or Sun (or both!) but at the moment it looks like it'll be Sun, yes. Smile

Are people in that group mainly up in Auckland, or in an area were they can all practice together? Rehearsals are essential. nodnod

Game I once played, under a different context, but perhaps it could be modified.

You have a group of characters, one of them has murdered someone, they know who did it. Then you have a detective who has to work it out from questioning each of the group.

In my case, the murder occurred at the dinner table, the deceased keeled over dead. Everyone had something to gain from his departure, whether it be vengeance, or inheritance or somesuch.
The detective and co had to work out which of us had done it and how based on comments and positions at the dinner table. Done by individual "interviews" with the suspects.

Everyone in the "suspects" list gets their story worked out, who was sitting where, who handled food, etc etc...
I was the crazy old man who dabbled in medicine... Razz

So Murder then? I have the card game. Everyone's given a story card, and they know whodunnit, but detective works it out. I'll see if I can borrow it from my mum and get the finer details...

been practicing too xD but some parts are confusing x_X

I think we're over the basic HHY, we've used it and the Lucky Star dance a lot. Maybe Gekisou dances?

Guess the anime theme comes to mind (most likely as part of the quiz), but that would require wrestling with the sound system.

@Kitten & Static: ohoho. I like that idea very much! whee

Definitely can be adapted, and I've played the Murder board game thing as well, but that was a while back. So if you can clear up some fine details, that'd be great. I know fun factor will require playing the game through, but entertainment factor from an audience's point of view may require it to be rehearsed. We shall see. & thank you very much for the suggestion!

@daydreamer: As Becky has said, we've pretty much already done that dance to death. But thanks for the suggestion!

@Becky: Gekisou is definitely an option; I shall message you later as well. :3

@Lennon: Wrestling with the sound stystem is A-okay! With the show grounds being 15 minutes away, I can be involved in set up a lot more easily than at previous venues. A guess the anime theme round is definitely a possibility. (and will more than likely go ahead!)

I remember hearing/reading something about this years Cosplay Games being hosted by the 'boys' from Ouran. Is this still happening, cause if it was only being considered, it'd be freaking awesome for it to happen. >.>

AFAIK, there will be no HHY or Caramelldansen Auckgeddon's Games - HHY because it's been done so many times, and Caramell because "The Cosplay Games" - though called games, is more like a ...presentation, if you will, rather than actual games. Having said that, I'm sure there will be PLENTY of caramelldansening outside of the Cosplay Games. X3
