Re: 2009 CNZ Cosplay Games By Highlander. 28/09/09, 02:35 pm |
| I posted feedback on the CHCH games. Um basically that with level seating, and the room layed out longwise, then you could not see, photograph/video properly. Also the sound was crap, as the sound system did not work.
I suggested a sideways orientation to the room. And a sound check.
I have been about a month ago to a fencing tournament, which included a tips for teaching fencing, or anything. The teacher used recruitment demonstrations as an example. Basically half the reason for these games?
Anyway what he said was interesting. Basically he said to be heard people do sideways rooms, and then have to move their head side to side. Does not work. You need to stand at the front and project your voice down the length of the room. That way every body is in front of your, can hear better. So the way the rooms were set up makes sense.
And the other reason the voices were hard to hear is the moving around. He talked about the way actors position themselves on stage so as they move the person talking is normally angling forward.
He also said some other interesting stuff too. But thats the main ones for us.
I still say that we probably do not have a rasied stage? So we are better off to do it sideways, but we really need to check the sound system.
PS. If you really need a hand on Friday evening I will be available, possibly 7-9pm? |

| We really don't have a choice to room orientation or to stage height. We get whatever Bill gives us, and that's that. If the screen is at the front, then that's the way the chairs will be facing - so hopefully it will be set up like it was at christchurch. The seating may be tiered - I'm not sure -- we're in one of the anime screening rooms, but we have no idea what the room itself is like yet. n_n; As for sound, we actually have a chance to rehearse this time, so we'll be able to make sure the sound works out properly this time. :) At chch there was essentially no chance to fiddle with things until we got into the room - which was the same time the whole audience did, so there was no time to fiddle with the sound anyway. (And thanks for the offer of help, but we're not allowed in there after 6pm on Friday + have plenty of people anyway, so don't worry about it. ) |

| Hi there, it seems we've got a group together to do a "Single Ladies" dance (lots of different outfits too, not just one) and I was wondering, Can we be part of the events on Sunday 2pm-ish please? |

| PM Aurellion about it - we've had a pretty solidly booked line up for the last few months now, but we might be dropping one of them, so we may have a spare slot. :) Send her an explanation and the video and a list of characters and she should get back to you - we're finalising the last details of the games now. |

| Um... just wondering, we have a small group wanting to perform a couple of anime dances and were wondering whether there's a spare spot during the cosplay games where we can perform them? |

| We've just told the other group that we're out of time, sorry! n_n; But what we've said to them is that people are performing dances after the cosplay chess at 11am on the sunday anyway, so maybe you guys could perform then? (chess is being organised by us, dancing is not) |

sounds pretty challenging with the costumes and all, but it'd be pretty funny to see who'd be brave enough to do it |

I will. None of my costumes for next year would be in any danger. |

| Jayne scared. Jayne shoot you now! Jayne shoot until he runs out of ammo.
Think I may try to get a Serenity group going. Otherwise you will face a veteran of decades of combat, so no fear, go for the kill.
