Post-Geddon Thread By venom. 24/10/09, 08:04 am |
| I went at 10amish (cos I couldn't wake up early...)... and left early too for work! (Which is where I'm writing this from) Wasted more than an hour on the insane line because I didn't pre-book the tickets... Won't happen for Monday for sure! Anyway, the place was much huge than I expected! Hard to find people, and impossible without a phone... Anyway~~ What did you all think about it? Share what you saw, bought and thought!

Re: Post-Geddon Thread By Suixelo. 24/10/09, 10:49 am |
| Dissapointing. But I am usually dissapointed so >> I found the line hillarious. Anybody say Line Con? But yeah, they need to advertise buying tickets before hand, I think most of it was that it was only available as E-Tickets, which was a problem for some people.
Hated the stage. Yeah, it's a bigger hall but worse overall, you can't really see well from anywhere (especially if you're short/youngest) where as the ASB Theatre at Aotea Centre is tiered and well set up. The live video streaming on the big screens, however were a big improvement. It was pretty amusing seeing yourself on big screen and seeing the lengths people would go to to get on there =P As usual, I fell in love with the animation guests <3
Nothing held my interest long in terms of stalls. Everything I saw available I was either not interested in, could get cheaper elsewhere, or I was too poor for. Artists Alley was a neat inclusion this year, and I think that will definately grow over time. Will be buying things tomorrow probably >w<
Gaming doesn't interest me at an event, therefore pretty much half the event didn't interest me.
I saw a lot of cosplayers. Haha. Pretty cool though that even non-cosplayers are getting into it and dressing up. Can't wait for tomorrow and Monday though, there ought to be more of us >w< <3
I got confused as staff more than once. I don't know if I find this worrying, or amusing.
Also, since I don't have a phone at the moment, it was kinda hard to meet up with people. I still enjoyed myself, but some people I only saw once or not at all D=

| Best part of the day was the 2012 advertisment guy.
He looked really authenthic with a cardboard sign saying: "The Mayans have warned us! 2012 End of the World!"
And kept shouting "it's going to be the end of teh world in 2012!" etc. And Ended with: "Coming soon".

Re: Post-Geddon Thread By burning batsu. 24/10/09, 11:37 am |
| I personally found the expo this year a lot busier in more ways than one this year, not only was there much more people attending right from the moment the gates opened, but in a more personal way it was busier since it was my first time cosplaying, and I found that I was getting stopped every couple of minutes for photos. Also made a few new friends today (and directed a few cosplayers to the forums that are currently not members here), so that is always a bonus!)
Anyone else stopped by the channel 2 TV crew and interviewed? (I was while I was chatting to a couple of people), was told it is going to be screened on Saturday Nov 14 at around 10am or so. :)
The one thing I disliked is that there was a few "bottleneck" areas around the expo where 2 or 3 high-interest stalls were clumped together so you'd get groups of people suddenly stopping smack in the middle of the passageway and causing a bit of a traffic jam, for lack of a better term.
Definitely enjoying the expo so far and looking forward to the remaining 2 days!
(For anyone that thinks they might have seen me but is not 100% certain, I was wandering around in red robes with a blue tabard and a purple wig on. =p) |

Re: Post-Geddon Thread By creature124. 24/10/09, 11:44 am |
| It was good, I had fun. Sadly, all the people I wanted to stalk hang with kept f$%king dissapearing on me, so I spend most of the day chillin with Matthew.
I must say though, that amount of recognition I got as the Spy was brilliant. Damn near everyone I walked, I would hear mention of spies ("Oh my god, it's a Spy!" "Spy round here!" "That Spy is not one of our spies!"), usually resulting me in turning and saying "Gentlemen". I even met one female TF2 player, of all things. Apparently, they DO exist. Cute, too.
There is going to be a Heavy cosplayer tomorrow - he stopped me in his Rude getup and asked me if I was going to be around. I anticipate this muchly - I sense epic photo opportunities.
All up, a good, satisfying (if a little tiring) day. I am content. |

Re: Post-Geddon Thread By burning batsu. 24/10/09, 12:02 pm |
| I liked how Travis was a good enough sport to actually do the miniskirt line at the Q&A session when I asked him =p
(Long story short, Travis, Sean Schemmel and I were chatting at the cocktail party on friday night, he made a couple of suggestions about things I should ask Sean at his Q&A panel at the expo (which I will not elaborate on, thank you very much...), to which I basically forewarned him that I would probably end up asking him to do his Col. Mustang Miniskirt line during HIS Q&A panel if he wasn't too careful =p VA's are such fun to talk to when in a more personal setting ^^ |

| Line was massive >_> Seriously. It was not as big an improvement of venue as it was advertised, so some disappointment. Also forgot to bring my camera after remembering last night T_T
+1 Getter Robo and +1 Disgaea seasons =D But lack of posters (and Mazinger....)D=
Spent pretty much all the day with DeltaBeta, then followed the Spy in the afternoon XD
Also, @Rolly, I hear anime club members are not happy with you! What did you do to my club X_x |

Re: Post-Geddon Thread By Le_Saboteur. 24/10/09, 12:07 pm |
| I am soo tired. Had to pose for many photos for Half Life 2 fans -_- Level10 had lots of AAAGHHH EEEWWW screams and then photos with little kids, it was cool (he was the headcrab zombie, I was Alyx).
We got a bunch of stuff (Y: The Last Man hardback vol.1, Trigun stuff, Haruhi stuff, Robot Chicken, art books etc) and are trying to save the rest of our money for photos.
I was pretty happy with it, though I think we've bought most of what we're going to for the rest of the expo. Didn't get to take photos of any other cosplayers though (except for Hawk Girl, because I was like HOLY SHIII SOMEONE KNOWS HAWK GIRL?!!11). We're probably going to come home tomorrow after lunch and then head back in for the masquerade, especially since there's like... a seven hour stretch where there's nothing that we're EXTATIC about seeing/whatevs. Can't wait to do TinTango's single ladies dance and the freeze/collapse tomorrow
See you all tomorrow, might actually have time to say hello and get some pictures of you all
@creature, ahh, you were the Spy! That was awesome. Smooth suit. I tried to catch up to you to get a Valve team photo, but it was outside the main hall and a total bottleneck >. |

WELL OF COURSE. 8|b 8DDD Excuse my scepticism~ I was all set to freak out, since I do know of a chick who lives on the North Shore who plays with me and the crew all the time. Wasn't her, though~ Still, you are a rarity, you know that right Lucy? 8D |
