how did i miss this post!!!!

It sucks.. 5 more years roughly till its on dvd.

Ok for those who don't know. Theres a thing called the Disney Vault. Where they release a movie for roughly 3 years and put it away for roughly seven years. (this only realyl counts their big films, lion king being one of them)

But i've been totally geeked on old disney movies lately. Singing 'just cant wait to be king', 'on jump aheand' (from aladdin) and 'A whole new world' in class annoying everyone. good times good times.

The Lion king promotes homophobia and racism, and is a shameless ripoff of Richard the Third, with a dash of Hamlet.

Or so say many a hater.

Personally, I just love the animation and Jeremy Irons voice. Oh God, Jeremy Irons voice. Scar totally coined the "I'm surrounded by idiots." line.

Re: THE LION KING
Post By Keysha-chan. 08/08/09, 08:52 pm

And TLK 2 was like Romeo and Juliet.

The Lion King isn't the only Disney film to be called out on being so similar to a Japanese animation. I know Atlantis was also very similar to something from Japan (there was a great comparison on it online once, but it seems to have gone).

Anyways, I love TLK. I saw it when it first came out and I was only 10 then. I was so into it I started crying just at 'The Circle of Life' opening because I thought it was so beautiful and moving.

Pretty good to move a 10-year-old in that respect. XD

Not my opinion, but comments like this do tend to show up in critical analyses of The Lion King....mainly talking about Scars overtly camp nature, and the fact that hes the only dark lion....oh, and how they do fuss over the alledged hyena goosestepping.

I say:get over yourselves and drool over the pretty animation.

the goose stepping i wouldn't call alledged as it is rather blatant. Is it bad though? No, it's symbolic. Weird choice but still I can't look at it negetively in my opinion so oh well.

About the whole Scar being Gay/ Black & White thing

Don't think Scar is Gay but yet he was designed rather Flamboyantly. He could be a Gay character and nothing wrong with that.. but his Artist Dayza is a rather Flamboyant man/ character designer. And his Villains like Jafar from Aladdin seem to have a rather camp style. It doesn't mean that they are gay just rather relaxed..

And don't think the movie is being racist with making Scar the only Black Lion. It's meant to symbolize the difference between darkness and light. Like when Mufasa says " Everything the light touches is our Kingdom "
Mufasa and Simba are apart of the Kingdom of Light while Scar is hidden within some sort of cave of Darkness..

Not to mention Simba's daughter in the second movie falls in love with a dark shaded Lion who looks like Scar.
If the Lion King was a racist trilogy then Kiara probably would of dated another yellow skinned Lion and probably together go on to wipe out the other Dark skinned Lions. Expect they don't and they end up colliding together
as one big massive family..

Back on my old computer, this was the shut down audio instead of the microsoft thingy. Absolutely classic.

Also, Lion King? Rascist? Oh please, sensationlist people, give me a break. I watched Disney Monopoly and they were rabbitting on about how the hyenas are black and it was some sort of derogatory thing, and blah blah... Is it insanity to believe that Disney just might not have a hidden agenda? Eh, I think people overthink the whole thing Razz
