Spoiler:

Okay so i've done just about everything apart from her Armor and weapons..
And her skirt.
How. The hell. Do you make. THAT SKIRT?!
A lot of you may be like 'dude come on its simple', but i have tried and slept then tried some more but i can still not make/find/etc a skirt pattern D:
I was thinking about doing like 3 layers,
First layer is under all the pleats then loops around the back and pops back in the front and disguises itself as the 3rd pleat thingy.
1st pleat is i dunno just there.
2nd pleat is just like the 3rd?
Its okay if you dont get it neither do i..
My main concern is with the actual shape of the skirt?
Do i make it squareish or semi circular, i mean i tried but it just goes way too poofy, and all this other random stuff.
I want the skirt to be swishy but not ball gowny?
And it has to be just 1 piece. Well each layer. So just 1 piece of material for the whole 3rd layer thing.
Is that a lot of material?
....
t-t im thinking too hard, and i have no exp. so plz help all you experienced peoples~

And with armor, what stuffz do i have to buy to make it?
Thank you thank you.

It looks like the skirt is a layered circle skirt - What I would do is make a circle skirt, and then for the pleaty things - sew another 3 layers into the left side seam of the skirt, making each lower layer wider than the one above it if that makes sense? (If you don't know what a circle skirt is, then I'll find you a tutorial. C: )

As for the armour - I'd say craft foam would be your best bet. Very Happy http://entropyhouse.com/penwiper/costumes/helmsdeep.html <--- tutorial

No worries! Very Happy And circle skirts aren't scary at all - they're a pain in the butt to hem though. >.< Here's a tutorial which seems pretty simple to follow. c: http://andreatung.blogspot.com/2006/04/diy-circle-skirts.html

Maybe try a foam camping matt? Haven't tried it myself but in theory should do the job... let me knjow if it works - have some armour in mind to make if all goes well.

Try checking Emporiums for craft foam, maybe?

If there's a Para Rubber by you, you can buy Closed cell foams in the form of EVA or PE (grade 30 usually), which is VERY SIMILAR to craft foam, just a better quality and a little denser- still perfectly suitable for armour work though. There's thicknesses like 3mm, 5mm, 8mm (sometimes), 10mm +, whatever you need if you can find a big store.

I worked at the biggest one in Christchurch for ageees. You can heat mould it with a hairdryer or a heat gun is even better if you can score one of those. Holds different kinds of paint fairly well, too.

Be prepared for bright blue or orange... The thinner stuff doesn't often come in black regularly.

PE foam is less dense and scratches very easy, but can also mould easier. EVA is a lot denser, still moulds okay-ish but can be harder to hold in place. Very dent resistant (like, if you accidentally sit on it or leave something heavy on it- the PE will condense and won't pop back up very well, while the EVA should come back right away, unless it was a very heavy object). Really though, PE is a b*%&# to work with, just holding it too firmly can leave dents/fingerprints everywhere.

Oh, yeah, and camping mats are usually 8 or 10mm, don't know if you want to go that thick.

Hope that helped. I'd recommend calling ahead to check if they have the thickness you want. If you have access to a credit or debit card they'll send it out to you if you're in a more rural area. If you're in CHCH they'll definitely have some there, and there's a big one in Auckland somewhere (it's either Wairau Park or Mt Roskill, dunno which one), don't know about any of the other stores... Good luck, can't wait to see your costume at Auckgeddon :]
