What material should I use for Ariel's sparkly dress? By Tails. 23/09/09, 06:03 pm |
| I can't decide! I'm going to be spraying glitter over the dress once it's made, so the material doesn't need to be sparkly. (Although that would save on buying glitter spray) Satin? Too shiny? Polycotton? Too plain?
I always thought Belle's dress looked better in satin, but Snow White's didn't. So not all Disney ball dresses have to be in satin?
Help!

| I would prefer satin- given the nature of the dress, it would look far nicer and...drapy. |

| Perhaps a stretch knit? Would be easy to get the tight fit of the dress, and I have seen some glittery stretch fabrics around? Like the dance fabrics, etc. (but that's just me, I always seem to be working with stretch/lycras...) |

| Yeah a stretch knit, unless you are confident to drape a bias cut dress :)
I know there are also lovely soft fabrics completely covered in either beads or sequins but they tend to be pricey. You ca find cheaper versions to0, of course but they don't have he same flow.
A stretch lurex would actually work really well but you would have to be picky about what make as not every manufacturer uses the exact same process. |

| Like...drapes. the material would drape. I'm not sure how to convert it into an adjective form. Also, I was half asleep when I typed that, I think. |
