im not sure what u mean by inventive copy protection. explain. Well, rumor has it that the game has a series of intentional glitches that only get activated on pirated copy's of the game. Thing like being unable to glide, certain key paths being blocked, ect. The pirate patches are scrambling to patch each one as it is discovered.
I personally am more inclined to think that its just a bad rip that got distributed, but the internet seems convinced its intentional. |

Re: Batman: Arkham Asylum. Your thoughts? By Sonic Reducer. 18/09/09, 09:24 am |
| The story is that there IS a pre release pirated version of the PC game that people got their hands on and didn't allow them to glide in the game. I'm unsure if this was actually at key points or in general. But oh well.
My thoughts... I was so hyped for this game as I'm a huge Batman geek, and pondered over the "hidden villian" that was going to be in the game that they hadn't previously announced, problem is that Scarecrow did pop up in a few of the trailers and was announced to have a downloadable content level so I figured it was someone beyond him. Naturally they were hiding his presence because his apperances are there to make you question whats going on (until his reveal ofcourse). So unless you count Scareface as the villain from his apperances (which I just love), Scarecrow was that villain.
The game is good but sadly not much replay value as I've done the game both normal and hard and while hard does amp up the difficulty considerably the game still is a bit lack luster in a few areas.
The controls are good. Easy to pick up and play, main issues for me in controlling the Dark Knight himself is that controlling the camera in a hectic battle isn't easy and you can get yourself stuck in a corner only to be charged at and crushed. Also often I have slid off an edge due to the punching also pushing you forward, also an annoyance in Ivy's boss battle when the vines are appearing.
The Riddler side quest is ok, though not much motivation to find then all other than an addtional riddle (with an answer you would of figured out very early in the game) and additional audio. Charecter profiles are cool to see but for diehard Batman fans already in the know theres no new info there. And for people who aren't fans, its unlikely you will know who some of those crazy charecters are. The highlights are more in finding the items that reveal the profile, for me mostly Ra's and Clayface (for the reasons known to those who have played the game...I don't want to spoil anything.)
The boss fights...to me the only one I consider a boss fight is Ivy's fight, Bane plays out the same as later enimies (who I guess could still be considered bosses, but to me. No.) which leaves me a bit let down. How ever Scarecrows scenes are really show stealers of the game. Something you have to experience and no way can I spoil here.
The look is what really shines, the game looks amazing! Each charecter looks perfect in my mind and the voice acting is great....till you see Scarecrow.. Dread that voice so much and maybe it's just me. Anyone else with me on that?
But despite all that hate, I think it's a great game. It's fun, a good story and easy to pick up and enjoy. Just looking forward to see what they improve upon for the sequel. |
