| If I triple post cause no one loves me T^T Anyone done/nearly done
Ack I am gonna be pulling late nights to finish mine and my computer I think is going to have serious troubles rendering this. Specially on high definition it's gonna die, well I can only hope and have nothing else running (assuming I finish that is). |

| (Only recently found this thread)
Yes I am nearly done!
I could send it in now if I came up with a title and added credits but... I will use this week and next week to make some final tweaks before sending it in around the 14th.
This is my fist AMV produced entirely in After Effects (version 5). So I have learned allot in making it and now I really like AE.
I have just added the first bit of info about this AMV to my site: http://www.oldvcr.tv/amv/index.html?v=2009-2 Once I have finished the video I will have time to complete that web page with more details. |

| I've learnt so much with my amv it has also been the worlds most pain in the butt thing ever And I'm not done D= I use Sony Vegas 8.0 Pro I'm aiming to have mine sent in around that time too.
I've seen some of Pyro's, well as much as you can see with her Vegas lagging (you think that's bad py-darlin you should see my whole computer freeze up XD) but I look forward to seeing everyone elses X3 Note to self: Bring popcorn. |

| What resolution are you working with? I have been surprised how stable and fast AE is to work with. I guess its because its an older version and I am using 640x480. Older software runs really well on newer hardware. |

| I don't think any computer could actually play a preview of my one without freezing. with over 60 layers only a godly computer could do it. I like Vegas though I'm planning to get after effects from my uncle sometime soon. |

| In AE you can turn off anti aliasing, motion blur and other unnecessary things while previewing. It can also be set to lower the resolution automatically in complex scenes. This makes it much easier to get a quick preview. Then you can turn all that stuff back on for your final render. Vegas might have similar options? |

THAT IS AN AMAZING IDEA. I concur. <3
edit: @fleyer & roy mustang: actually yes, you can turn off those things in Vegas to a point: just above the video preview area there is a drop down list of setting to view: if you set it to draft as opposed to preview it speeds things up a bit. Quality of the footage is bleh but that's fine as all you're doing is just checking if things are a-okay. |

Re: Superly-Duperly Awesome Multi-Purpose AMV thread~! By Paul. 13/09/09, 10:14 am |
| How do you guys cut out characters / objects from the background?
I export the relevant clip as an image sequence then manually paint on every frame. Starting with large brush / Flood fill and ending with a 1 to 3 pixel brush to tidy the edge and get into corners. Normally every only third(ish) fame changes so it cuts done on the number that require painting on. You just have to duplicate them at the end so the length is not messed up.
I paint out with 'magic pink' (R:255,G:0,B:255) then apply a colour key when the image sequence has been imported back into the editing program to create the transparency.
I am interested to hear if anyone has found a better way to do it? |

| I mask using the option XD Mine has so much masking it's insane >.> Slowly getting finished. I think even if I add in okay bits the rest should make up for it XD
Hopefully it'll be done. |

Thats where you use a pen tool to draw around the object to cut it out. Then edit/ animate the points on the line as required as the object moves? |

| Yup, it's weird only Vegas Pro has that option. It's very time consuming and if you have a straight colour say white it's easier just to use chroma key to remove it. |

| I use the mask tool in after effects and animate the key frames.......ahhhhhhh it drives me nuts (thank god I'm only doing a little bit with moving frames) then I import it into Premier Pro. |

| I used the mask tool for simple shapes but I found exporting an image sequence and painting easier for complicated scenes. Especially since you can come back to painting images at any spare moment you have, with out having to start up your editor. |
