i liked the amv! |D the transitions were nice & suited the mood...

i hope i finish my amv in time for chchgeddon... have they even released a due by date yet?

not yet, nope. >>; Though I'm guessing it'll be 2/3 weeks before the weekend - Zeb likes to judge them in a weekend. :)

@Fred: haha. Pointers. uhm. I can't emphasise enough - get good quality fooatge & crop out subs. Even if you just get raws instead of ripping from DVDs, at least fiddle round in avisynth & code yourself a .avs file to export to .mpg. Good quality clips is great, and if you add in some filters in the .avs file to de-rainbow pixels, stop graining & brighten it a bit it makes a world of difference. Don't add TOO many filters though, that will make it slower, probably of lesser quality than to begin with and will eat your computer. Also: PAL, not NTSC. NTSC = fail. & make sure you get the aspect ratio right, I think for the comp it's 4:3? oh! and remember to de-interlace!

and this sounds obvious, but EXPORT YOUR AMV TO A PLAYABLE DVD, not a data disk. haha. I got disqualified for not following that one in '07. lol. I was an AMV newb~ 8D what a difference a year makes.

so yes, keep at it, get good footage, use an original idea - storyboarding = chuu~!

. uhh. Can't say much more than that really. o_o''' Stalk YouTube & watch inspirational AMVs to get ideas for effects/techniques etc. Research~

& make sure you make them on a decent computer. I'm lucky - my Dad's a computer technician, so I get cheap stoof.

If you need subs to communicate an idea, you're not communicating it at all. eheh... ^^;;;

How does one crop out subs with WMM?

I hate subbed-footage simply 'cause I will not make amvs with it. I have lots of wonderful series I could use, but thems ALL. HAS. SUBS. gonk

Oh god if your using WMM (the pain) you can't crop out subs, the only thing you can do is avoid using scenes with them (I did this years and boy was it a pain).

Hrmmmm now I actully have a question for you guys, what would your opinion be if I was to see about entering an AMV that didn't have Anime O_o There is a certain Animation I want to use (OMG American) but I'm not sure about trying to enter it.

I know a few years back someone entered a Samurai Jack AMV and that wesn't disqualified. Then there is the fact the Comp is Technically called the 'Animation Music video' Contest.

Meh Just wanted to know.....

Holy Crud I remember seeing that one Really liking it. Nothing wrong with using a Japanese Song, heck I've used Japanese, Geman and soon Spanish Songs XD......

You just get a warm fuzzy feeling when you see ur AMV up on the Big Screen.......

Ahhh finding Raws is a pain, that why I love the Crop tool in Adobe (so handy when I Rip certain dvd's or find Raws)

okay so Who here is actually planning on entering the Wellington AMV contest. If so what are your ideas/plans (if you are willing to share?

I am aiming to try and have two done one of them is using the song Rooftops-LostProphets set to One Piece:Movie 9 XD It's actully being made for Kylie (keysha-Chan) Cos I miss having her as my flatmate and because she loooovvvvveeeessss Chopper :3

The other one is a secret XD <-- also don't know if it will get finished sad

IF THIS QUESTION IS STILL VALID; THEN YES, I HAS AN ANSWER~~~

Basically, you've got to download some crop custom effects-- just google 'WMM custom effects', and you should be able to eventually find some crop ones. Use them, and it'll cut the subs out, though it can sometimes be a bit of a pain by fuzzy-ing up j00r video. =D

Pyro's first of three contest AMVs is finished.
It'll be online soon for everyone's viewing pleasure; under my Youtube account. It's called 'Stormclouds and Sunlight'... Look out for it, guys. ;D I'll link when it's up.
It's made with my favorite video game series; Shadow Hearts, and it's one of my fluffy-sad ones.

My Wellygeddon/CHCHgeddon AMVs are as follows~

'Stormclouds and Sunlight': Mentioned earlier in the post, but once again: it's Shadow Hearts, with the song 'She is the Sunlight' by Trading Yesterday. It's themed around inadequacy, and it's kind of fluffy, kind of sad. I've used a rather gentle editing style for it, with soft flashes in parts, and fades for most of the rest, with a low colour saturation level to give the effect of it being in the past. I've also experimented with still images being incorporated into the footage, for fun. The entire AMV has a kind of 'opposites attract' quality to it, with peaceful images being offset by ones of destruction, showing how the character whose POV it's from feels like he's a disaster waiting to destroy his girlfriend's life. The entire thing is in media res, with the main character looking back on his follies as he ruins his girl's life, before, at the climax of the AMV, showing the monster he feels he's become after leaving her to her fate. I'm totally in love with this AMV. x_x

'Find My Whoever; Wherever She May Be': Air, set to 'Remembering Sunday' by All Time Low. This AMV is somewhat of a storytelling AMV, with no particular theme, about a boy searching for the girl of his dreams after abandoning her when she begins to die. It's my attempt in learning masking and patience with editing... It's taking me a rather long time, but it's very pretty thus far, so totally worth the effort. The entire thing is probably going to be one of my more emotional AMVs of late, admittedly. But in any case-- yay, Air!

Some kind of Ergo Proxy AMV is gonna go in on top of these, but I don't know what it'll be to yet. Possibly, I'll make it with 'Move Along' by the All American Rejects, but I've got a couple of other songs in mind as well. In any case, I'm gonna go upbeat with this one-- even if it'll look a bit weird, since Ergo Proxy is the epitome of dark anime. xD

haha.. I don't think I'm going to get any done for Chch & Wellington. >_> I'm drowning in homework, arts council & costumeshaidgaisyfdgaiy. we'll see... but at the moment it's looking very unlikely. Ah well.

Maybe I'll start a habit of getting up at like 4am everyday to finish things: I did that this morning & it wasn't too bad... reaaaally tired now though.
