How high a priority is cosplay in your life? By Cassiel. 03/05/09, 03:44 pm |
| Obviously, excepting the few weeks before a con, how high do you place cosplay? I mean, will you buy a game or a book before buying new fabric, and how much time would you allocate to it? Does it outrank your other hobbies?
For me, personally, obsessions wax and wane. When I'm on a cosplay bent, I'll focus a lot of my energy into it, but if my current obsession is something else, cosplay will drop a few notches and become less important. Obviously schoolwork comes first, so if there's a mad rush then Mr Costume goes on the backburner xD As to money, I save more than I spend, so somehow in my mind that justifies me spending horrendous amounts.

| Schoolwork? Before cosplay? PFFFT.
The majority of my budget goes towards cosplay. 8D I'm cosplaying to a 21st at the end of this month and I'm making two cosplays, one commissioned my boyfriend. I've already skipped two days of school to work on it.
I'm so bad. 8D |

| It's always pretty high for me especially when I find a new character. School work is close under it but it's always pretty easy and sometimes homework takes priority but I rarely get that. I liek crafting models but I don't do that often so cosplay is mostly the top. I want to buy stuff and so but I'm always like no then I can't get this for cosplay ^^ |

| I find cosplay drains about 50% of my pay packet and most of my spare time. but when im not making something spacifically i spend next to nothing on it and do nothing so it depends on weather or not something piques my intrest |

| I only ever make cosplays just before an event. Like, two weeks beforehand xD. And then it's most important.
School work is NEVER important. |

| Rent > cosplay. Petrol > cosplay. Work > cosplay. Exams (generally) > cosplay.
The moral of the story is: don't go flatting and rejoice while you're at high school and things like school don't matter. ^^ |

| Mostly cosplay > schoolwork. Also. Cosplay > IRL social life. /shifty eyes.
But assessments with very close due dates/overdue assessments > cosplay.
Also. Sleep > everything. 8Db;;;;

| I browse the internet at school during class AFTER I've done all the work, which actually gives me a lot of time to do so. Well, when we have Classics computer times I ignore Classics, but in ICT I do the work in five minutes (Why is it so easy?!?! xDD).
Mostly, I spend my afternoons/weekends on the computer. Refreshing pages 8D;;
(Actually, today was the first day in years that I've ever bothered to do non-rushed school work. Then again, photographing Rani making cosplays is more leasurly than what most school work is 8DDD) |

| I'M IMPLYING YOUR SEWING IS BETTER THAN LIKE ... LANDSCAPE. (The internal is a 'people, place, event' thing, but photographing people is recomended because there's more to photograph).
DON'T WORRY, SIN, I AM A BAD STUDENT TOO. It's great 8DD. I waste the school's internet by downloading anime. It's my new thing to do in ICT after I've finished my work >D |

| Cosplay>School Acting jobs>Cosplay Dance>Cosplay Cosplay>Buying normal clothes, food and sleep
Cosplay as you can tell is pretty high priority in my life, school is just something for me to do during the day, I have already had a day off this term to work on my DO costume. Acting comes befor as it provides money, which I need for cosplay and dance wins everything. |

I'M SORRY, SHE THOUGHT IT WAS FOOD. I'MNOTKIDDINGMISSISWEAR. I thought that was only a phrase until my puppy actually did that...
A few weeks before the event, it'll be top/high priority (well second to work anyway.) Each day, and most of it, will have something to do with cosplay. Lol I even bought cosplay to work on, at work haha.
A couple of months before the event, it'll be medium I guess, I'll spend half of the time (above ^) on cosplay.
Any time else, it'll be low, might just spend a few minutes in planning or whatever but that'll be all~ |

| I would LIKE to say cosplay > school, but uh. I'm a nerd and don't know when to say 'no' to extra-curricular work.
I usually try and work on my projects steadily to prevent a last minute rush, and Jess & I meet up on every second Sat and every Wed for sewing parties, woo! (though we both had to miss the most recent because of our school/uni work. darnit!)
So yes, I'd like to say it's a high priority but realistically it's not. Even when there IS a last minute rush I'll still put school before cosplay. ~_~ |
