- In 2009 we celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Christchurch Lantern Festival and the Chinese New Year.
Where and when: Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 February, Victoria Square Festival highlights and performances
We started the Lantern Festival in 2000, the Year of the Dragon, and this year – the Year of the Ox – we will have worked our way through 10 of the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac.
Join us in wearing your traditional Chinese or Japanese cosplay/costume outfits to celebrate the Chinese/Japanese New Year.
(yeah i know it is the chinese new year, but Japan celebrates it as well) |

| I'll try get my parents to "drag" me to it, then come and hang out with any cosplayers in the area. Probably not in cosplay myself, though. |

| One year, when I first went, they were selling these little hand held lanterns. One had a symbol on it, the other some cartoon characters. I was just at the very beginning of my education in anime (I had watched 2ish episodes of Naruto), so I bought it for a laugh. Turned out it was Naruto and Sakura on it. Sakura had blue hair.

So saturday os sunday after 3pm would be a good time, me thinks, well for me anyway! Will this be cosplay or just street clothes? |
