| Lol. Yay for cheaperness!
I'm thinking meet somewhere in town, like in the Metro or at Britomart or something. Somewhere where everyone can get to.
I'm still narrowing down exactly which wig I'll be getting and if I will be getting my Fujin wig as well. |

| Metro FTW.
So I can pig out on starbucks as well as burgerking and ride in the rocketship elevator for a while ;D
But also that's a good place because the internet cafe is over the road so people who are giving me the money see me ordering the wigs so they know im not stealing there moneyhz?
Makes sense i guess. Plus so i choose the right wigs etc? |

| Lol. That sounds like a great idea. That way, you don't have to worry about a bunch of people giving you lists then forgetting and then, as you order each wig, you can get each person to hand over their share of the moneyz xD
But.. I need help choosing a color... *waddles off to make another board about color* |

Re: Need a wig for an upcoming cosplay event? [UPDATED] By Rowan. 31/07/08, 02:25 pm |
| lol to be honest the main reason I'm getting wigs from cosworx is that it's just easier. I'm not ebay savvy, and trade me doesn't have the colours I need. And since my only wig so far was a david bowie one from Ike's imporium, anything is a step up! |

Re: Need a wig for an upcoming cosplay event? [UPDATED] By Suixelo. 01/08/08, 12:36 am |
| XDXD DAVID BOWIE!
You could always dye the trademe ones? There are a few methods, I'm going to try the ink one next =] And they're much much better quality than cosworx ones, although it is true cosworx wigs will suit more cosplays without hacking them too much XD |

Re: Need a wig for an upcoming cosplay event? [UPDATED] By JVCA. 01/08/08, 04:38 am |
| I wouldn't neccessarily agree on trademe ones being nicer. The two I've gotten off trade me are atrocious -- and overpriced. My Misa wig was $50, not including shipping, and tangles and sheds like nothing else. I've worn it once, and not been able to untangle it to wear it again. Even when I try and untangle it, the bits that I have already detangled tangle themselves up again while I detangle the other bits. My other trademe wig, which I got for Yuna looked nothing like the photo, was incredibly weird looking and ridiculously thin. It was $30, not including shipping, and a total waste of money.
In terms of cosworx - I do agree that they could use being a bit cheaper, but at least with cosworx I know I'm getting what was in the picture. I haven't had any problems with wigs being too thin, though then again I haven't really done any wig styling so I can't speak knowlegably there. What wigs I have bought from cosworx, I have been very happy with.
The FW ink dying method is really, really good - very easy to get an even coat as well, which was my biggest worry. The only difficult thing was actually finding that quantity of Isopropyl alchohol! I do warn you though - the amount of dye the recipe on cosplay.com makes will only *just* cover a cosworx scruffy wig, so anything longer, you're probably going to want to make a double batch (or more). The FW ink can be bought from art supplies - http://www.artsupplies.co.nz/store/subcat.asp?scat=daFW&cat=Inks%2C+Block+Printing+ <--- if you go in person with your student ID, you can get a student discount too, I think. Please note that while the ink doesn't have to be FW brand, it does have to be acrylic ink (ie., screen printers ink).
EDIT: Also, Cosworx really doesn't take that long to arrive. Longer than trademe, yes, but they don't have to ship overseas. I've found that it takes about 2-3 weeks for them to arrive, which is on par with what they say it'll be - 5-10 business days after they've shipped it.
As for cosworx wig caps = much love. They have a nice wide band around the edge, so they don't slip very easily (the only other wig cap I have is a trademe one which isn't very strong, and has a band that's around 1cm wide, as opposed to the approx 4cm cosworx has). There's also quite a bit of head room in them, so if you have a lot of hair to put up, it's not gunna overflow.
One warning about shipping though: it does go up in price as you add more to the order. The base fee for international shipping is $20, and it goes up a couple of dollars for every wig you add. Overall, it's still cheaper to combine shipping though. For your comparison - I ordered 2 scruffys, 2 punkys, 1 amanda, 1 pat, a brush, 5 wig caps, 3 packs of coloured bobby pins, one aquacolour makeup thing, makeup fixing spray and anti-shine powder, and the shipping was about $80, from memory. If I had bought the wigs seperately (so, ignoring the other stuff), all up the shipping would've cost me $120. The best thing I can reccommend is just to keep an eye on your shopping cart - as you add more things it tells you what the shipping will be. |

| The dying method sounds good, but I need a white wig for Inner Hollow Ichigo >.< And no you don't want a David Bowie one like mine! It was so bad quality that it was all tangles at the back before the judging had even started 9and I got to Armageddon at lik 10:30 as well). But yeah David Bowie FTW! |

Re: Need a wig for an upcoming cosplay event? [UPDATED] By Suixelo. 01/08/08, 06:18 am |
| Well, it does depend on the seller of course, as with ebay. I've bought four from the same trademe seller, all were cheaper than cosworx, have skin tops, are beautifully made, and are very very thick. They have however, put up their prices recently and aren't selling as many styles as before.
At the end of the day, if you need to heavily style it, especially at the back, you need a thicker wig. Otherwise, cosworx wigs are fine.
Make sure you use a wig brush on wigs, or you'll be unable to tangle them.
EDIT: Depending on when you need to place the order by, I'd like to add a Cleo 601 in 24 (Medium Blonde) =] |

Re: Need a wig for an upcoming cosplay event? [UPDATED] By Pseudonym. 02/08/08, 05:04 am |
| the shipping cost you $80? nz? that is a lot O_o.. my last order from cosworx was 6 wigs, 2 wig heads and lots of wig caps and it was only about ~40us = ~55nz, narya ordered 6wig heads, 3 wigs, loads and loads of brushes/caps and a pair of shoes and the shipping was only ~55us = ~77nz
Note that the wigheads take up a rather decent amout of space, what is the makeupfixing/shine powder stuff you mentioned? I can't see that on cosworx anywhere O_o
All of my cosworx orders (3) have taken 5 days to arrive from the shipped date, the first 1 was shipped in 2 days, the second in about 7, the third in about 5. |
